I am looking for a source for a bending toe walking stilt. I already know about bigfoot out of orlando and jay walkers. anyone have any other sources or experience with this type of stilt or these two dealers? any info would be appreciated

I am not refereing to dura stilts. there is a type out there that have a bending toe that is more articulating to match the foots movement. most theme parks use them.

Andy I would probibly not go with buying a set of chineese knockoffs of the durastilts. Gravity is painful enough, not just when you have a set of stilts fall apart on you when you are on them.
Zakarai, Is there a name brand of the stilts your talking about? |

The convention changed dates to the first weekend in November, probibly becuase this weekend is crazy for other performers who are swamped doing shows.
I want to go but I'll have to call up Franco to see if he wants me to come out and play. (been a real slow year show wise for me) |

I am really disappointed I'm attending three magic conventions in November, but you let me know perhaps I can fit it in. Wait a minute is that Dick Franco you're going to the space freak convention with????

The stilts you are referring to are called "BigFoot stilts. (http://www.stilt.com/)
I believe the company sold out to Disney and that bouncy stilt guy from orlando (http://www.hardriveinc.com/flash.htm). There is another stilt called "Wallys" that was made for a company called Sports Magic entertainment, but they have gone under. You can some times find these stilts on Ebay, but they will go for Thousands. But they are worth it! Larry |

Al, Franco, is the guy putting the event on, I think that he works or has something to do with Marks Tattooing out in Wilkes Barre PA.

Just to reply about China vs Dura from stilt boy , I have both sets here and the china ones are superior in design.
Here are the dura stilts: http://www.durastilts.com/images/hero_shot.jpg and here are the china stilts: http://cibontool.com/news/blackstilt.jpg Notice in particular the join of the main leg strut to the main stilt support. And its a bit hard to see but the shoe straps go under a metal plate on the china ones and the dura ones you stand directly on them. My 2 cents, Andy |

I don't know I would still have to totally look over the chinese ones before I strap my fat carcass in them. (keep in mind I'm about 250 lbs)
Also what material are those made of? Mine are aluminum, but I'm wondering if I can't score a set of stainless steel ones. (not sure if I want to be around fire with a set of magniesium ones) Also, do the ones made in china require metric tools and hardware, or are they inch standard? |

They are aluminum, they are basically exact copies without all the design faults of Dura stilts. I would be surprised to find stilts not made in China now anyway. They were never made in the USA anyway but in Sth America - PR I think. Anyway, there are many companies making them so I am sure there are good ones and bad ones.
They use metric as well. |
