I'll preface this by stating I am an IT junkie. I started with Kennedy's floating bill in third grade and have been hooked ever since. Needless to say anything that comes out involving IT, I have to check out. I have used numerous hook ups in the past, both regular IT and EIT. Now obviously you can't perform an entire show with EIT, so nine times out of ten I had to go with whatever hookup was the easiest for working restaurants and bars. So I judge any new hook ups with that in mind. This one passes with flying colors.
First, it's Justin Miller teaching. Don't need to say any more on that. Second, there are two hook ups for two different situations. Both absolutely rock. Both are the essence of simplicity to set up and can be ready anytime, anywhere. The hookups alone are worth getting the DVD for, but of course Justin includes some brilliant handlings of the rising card and the Haunted pack. Again, easily worth the price of the DVD. I only perform PK effects, but I do include the haunted deck in my routines (it's a great demo of PK powers). The cloak makes it incredibly clean and the freedom of movement with it is stellar. And the effects can be done in the spec's hands. Trust me, if you work with EIT, or even if you're new to it, this is a must have. The possibilities are endless with The Cloak. |

I would compare the Cloak to Jaxon's infinity loop hook-up
Having toyed with both I think Jaxon's is the superior method. You can do very similar effects with both but Jaxon's can be used at table or stand up with no change of hook up points (there are no hook up points with Jaxon's!) which just nudges it ahead in my opinion. However, Jaxon's is only available as a PDF currently so I guess more people will be using the DVD based Cloak. Either way both methods work well. My advice, get both and play with them. Find the one that suits you. |

I have the Infinity Loop and it's great, I hope the Cloak isn't too similar

Actually, the first method of the Cloak is completely different then Ron's. The second method is similar, but both function slightly different. I too would recommend getting both. Then you can better judge what effects you can accomplish with each.

Just out of curiosity, how practical is the hookup for "wearing" (for lack of a better term) during the day and walking around (ie, not performing constantly). I'll typically put on a loop when I leave the house and not worry about it. Can the hookup sit like that and not be in major danger of breaking?

Yes.

Yes it can. And keep in mind there are two separate hookups.

I have been using thread since I got into magic, and had come up with several of the same ideas, BUT the add on the card flipping was Genius. This idea never occured to me. As I slap myself. My only regret is now that many other people will be able to use this method.
Question 1) I am just wondering, why in the DVD he never sais a thing about Infinity thread. Heard Yigal Mesika like 20 times, Kinda like a coke commercial. And how wonderfull it is to pull the thread out. Is the Mesika thread less shiney? Question 2) You can really tell Justin loves magic. By the way he talks about things and you can hear and see the energy in his interest in magic. Trust me, I am very happy at the moment, This DVD is steller. And everyone needs to make a living. BUT Why didn't this go on ellusionist's front page for all the kiddys to grab and download? I prefer it not happen, so we get every kid on the block exposing thread. Many times I have done thread effects in a bar, and hear. OH yeah some guy did some things like that, he showed us the spider web like stuff. This has pushed me to comeup with better hookups and to be extra carefull about shine. |

My choice is Infinity all the way now.. Answer 2) Many reason I did not give this to E. One is what you already said. This is a pro. hook-up and I wanted to keep it that way. Also, The Cloak is VERY VERY dear to me and I wanted it to have a WIDER range of influence among magicians who would actually USE it and not just stuff it away somewhere after the NEXT NEW HOT item came out! I am not saying anything bad about E..they have been VERY VERY good to me..but The Cloak is not what I consider E-ready. I agree completely... I am so glad you are having fun with The Cloak... Stay tuned for The Cloak 2 in the future.. Justin N. Miller |

Justin loves GOD, Family and magic. We're just lucky his 3rd love was not floral arrangement.
I love his teaching style, creativity and if you have his other DVD's where he performs for real folks, he has a killer sense of humor and his audience management is up there with the best.

Cloak 2?
I love floral arranging and hope that will be the new dvd! Got my DVD (Cloak 1) in the mail last night. Made it to Hawaii quickly. And autographed! Watched it for a while and was very impressed with the quality of the teaching. Had the feeling I was sitting right across the table getting a private lesson. So far I have only seen the first hook up and while it looks great I don't do sit down shows very often. Looking forward to watching the second hook up after work tonight.

Well, I got this today and what a great DVD this is. THe effects are classic ( rising card from deck and haunted pack ). The teaching is the typical Justin Miller style ( you think he's in the room with you, just as a friend showing you something cool ).
I have been "trying" to come up with the method Justin did for standing but not having his talent, never did. It solves so many problems I had using IET. The DVD lived up to the hype and then some!!
