I am practicing a trick that involves one and only one duplicate card. So now when I open a new pack of cards , I open 2 decks at the same time. Then I swap the 5 and 6 of diamonds in them, therefore I have one duplicate card in both decks.

So now that I am carrying a deck with this duplicate card, what are some good card tricks that need one duplicate card?

Thanks

I agree, the "Here then There" trick is my favorite to use with one duplicate card. I find it to be a fairly effective opener for a lot of people.

If the duplicate card could be another back color, it's Chicago Opener..

Simple plot, no apparent 'moves', 1 card, boom, changes to another.

Card to notebook!
Card to couch!
Card to windshield wiper!
Card to <place I just stashed a duplicate> !

Can ya feel me? Smile

Oh yeah, here's another one I disturbed my daughter with once.. it was one of those perfect timing things.. but, I showed the Ace of Hearts on the bottom of the deck, turned it face down, magical gesture (with the blatant absence of any card movement at all), and show the Ace of Hearts on top of the deck. She lost her mind for about 5 minutes.

Thanks! I had forgotten about that one. The second trick I remember ever being completely blown away by. Have to put an extra card into the box in my pocket right away just in case the opportunity arises!

P.S: Uff. Now I have to slaughter a new deck just for that one card. I hate that. Even though I have enough cards to last for... decades.

I second the Chicago opener just make the dup a different color back! Or use A idea from Jay Snakey and tape a piece of paper on the back of the dup and write don't pic this card.

You can always buy a one way forcing deck.

That gives you plenty of options.

I have to agree with Red Hot Mamma, it got me a long running contract with a local crabby joes.. they asked me to show them ONE thing in the interview and then make ONE balloon creation.. so I made a monkey climbing up a banana tree and then did Red Hot Mamma.

I learnt RHM at Magic camp.

After ALL THIS TIME, I just now started doing Red Hot Mama! and wow does it get a GREAT response. ON TOP OF THAT if you have one dup card with a different back (i.e red single card in blue deck or vis-a-versa) you can perform Paul Harris's effect BIZZARE TWIST, eye's pop when the card's back changes color... I love that Smile
...for the 51st time... that is NOT my card...

I personally like a transposition effect. I believe the one I use is called Impossible Transposition. I'm not completely sure. But having a card placed in a spectators hand, and then switch with another card in your hand, just seems unbelievable to people.
