Hmmmmm....
Read this today, put people into trances in your performances tomorrow. Kenton's new "Ultimately Under" does for hypnosis what Completely Cold has done for telephone psychics. Literally overnight you will get spectators to close their eyes, levitate their arm, see imaginary balloons and all manner of things - without stooges, hypnosis, or tons of practice. Spectator's hands get stuck to a table, they cannot move from a spot on the floor, their fingers seem glued together and more. No memorizing special hypnotic scripts or fancy words. No funny props required, though you may want to use your cell phone or make up a thing or two. Most of the effects can be performed up close, in a living room or on stage. Unlike what all the others teach you, Kenton tips how mentalists and magicians can use trance work TODAY without worry or failure. Forget being taught how to be a clinical therapist or stage hypnotist when all you really want to do is apparently put people under INSTANTLY while doing your usual effects. You learn how to do all of this and more right away. This work is for MAGICIANS AND MENTALISTS BY a renown MAGICIAN and MENTALIST. You don't need to be an expert in hypnosis when all you really want to do is show how you put people into a trance instantly. No dangerous methods, no difficult work. Read it today, perform trance effects with ease and complete confidence tomorrow! No worries, and no fear required. |

The claims seem to good to be true, and you know what they say!

I have a feeling it is going to be somewhat like the locked eyes test (which I love) and things of that nature.
And no when things seem to good to be true...that rule doesn't apply anywhere. I got into cloudbusting and it wasn't too good to be true. Everything was true, I can change the weather and swirl clouds. |

That's very good blindside 785, then you better get it and review it for us, it's cheap. And by the way I got cloudbusting too. I look forward to your review.

I remember another pseudo-hyp book by Knepper (which I no longer have). In this book he suggests using itching powder to get the hypnotic effect of itching.
So, think about your body now...notice if you have any sensations...any itches. Notice also that when you pay attention to them they start to spread to other parts of your body. Like I've said before if you have to fake the itching suggestion you suk as a hypnotist. This isn't to say this book might not be good but based on my past experience with Knepper's pseudo-hyp there is no way I'll spend fifty bucks to find out. Again, he seems to be selling the dream of fake hypnotism to magicians...if someone actually gets this who really does hypnotism I would be very interested in a review. |

I love doing this stuff with waking hypnosis, but I can't do it to everyone....Maybe this book will help out with that. I never was really into much of Kentons other things but I might look into getting this sometime.

I'm very interested in this book as well. Hopefully there'll be a review soon and hopefully this won't just be another book of recycled pseudo-hypnosis effects.

Hi all,
Here's what I'll say as a contributer (which I consider to be the greatest honour): The book clearly will not suit everyone, but then nor will ANY book or effect. For some Mind Readers the whole hypno-premis would cut across their general performing persona and rob them of credibilty... A magic analogy of this would be if 'Mr. Super Elegant Card Sharp' miraculously turned his Ace of Spades into a sponge banana! Just wouldn't work hey. HOWEVER for Mentalistic performers whose persona can carry it off this book will contain some PURE GOLD as far as pseudo-hypnotic techniques go [trust me , I'm a Priest!] . NEW ideas, tried and tested, worked on by many minds and put together as a delightful Menu of Mentalism from which to select choose some potentially astonishing starters, powerful main courses and satisfying deserts. I myself just have one (and 1/2) effects in the book. It began as an idea... was tested out in the real world, worked on by Kenton's incredibly creative mind, and POW a cool sure fire effect that will blow away both audience and volunteer! However I simply cannot wait until I receive my copy own of the WHOLE book because the material that Kenton and the School produces is truly incredible... and I KNOW I'll be using it in my shows, but then (going back to what I said above) it suits my persona! Cheers my friends, Mark |

Sounds great, I'll most likely get it then....I love pseudo hypnotic effects just as much as using waking hypnosis and suggestion.

I don't believe in fake hypnosis - we're all already in trance.
BTW - as a trained hypnotist, I'd caution untrained people from screwing around with stage hypnosis just believing it is suggestion and people aren't "under". I come from the school that says that people go into and out of altered states all day, and mostly don't realize it. That being said, I have seen very real hypnotic abreaction during a stage show. The hypnotist, who was trained handled it well. Even if the subject isn't in trance, the belief that he or she is can open them to revivify very traumatic memories. Imagine unknowing;y doing that to someone with PTSD. I should also say that if you don't know how to recognize someone exhibiting psychosis, best to stay clear of any kind of induction - false or not. It doesn't matter if you don't even believe in hypnosis. You can cause psychological trauma to someone who does believe. My $0.02 |
