I was fortunate enough to get one of Pete's last sets of JP cups (Thanks Pete) and am starting to work on the routine.

The only source I have is the Stevens' Tape and I found the explanation rather disorganized. Has his routine ever been written up in any form? A search through the many references on the Café produced nothing.

Thanks for any help.....

If I remember correctly, Pete had the routine written up at one time. I'm sure he'll chime in here to let you know.

I believe it is important to work out the techniques taught by Johnny Paul and then try to create your own sequence of moves for your routine.

I got a set from Pete too and now I'm trying out my own sequence. Those cups can do wonders. Try them out with all kind of possiblities.

Are the JP cups still available from any dealer?

thanks
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

I got a set of those cups from pete and he send me the routine along with the cups.
I am very happy with my cups they are beautifull, however I am having some problems with the routine since I can not dislodge the ball in a natural way, in fact every time I try this move I have to smash the cup real loud.
am I doing something wrong??

I have the same problem. I have tried changing the size of the sponge ball but that was no help.I had purchased the cups from Stevens magic. Included was a set of instructions ,which I lost. Glenn

On the Stevens' tape Johnny was having the very same problem - to the point I thought the methodology was apparent to all but the lamest space cadets. In fairness, this was filmed well after his prime.

I'm anxious to begin work on the routine and see if I can make it workable.

Johnny Paul DID slam the cups down a bit on the hard/loud side. He worked on a bar surface most of the time, but if you use a pad it should be no problem. Try wetting the balls (serously) and ring them out almost dry.

Thanks, Pete. I will try out the moist sponge ball method which gives the ball a bit of weight.

Also if you wet the balls they will get bigger

Does that mean the ball would get stuck more and we have to slam the cup even harder? Would the slightly added weight fromthe wetted sponge ball helps?

You have to experiment and practice. You may need to trim the sponges down or try different kinds. Once you get it you will have a winner.

Which seem to have the most promise, the regular or supersoft balls?
