I understand what he's doing and why he's doing it, but I think that it's just too much display. its an unnecessary move in my opinion. looks great, I just think as a layperson, I'd be thinking - "i get it - its a can."

I agree. It took 9 hours of 'proving' displays. Too much.

Smooth but definitely too much handling, just over 3 minutes.

It's great that you've added some more convincers...but perhaps too many for one performance. some of the convincers youve added would make nice subtleties, but you must make them subtle.
The only reason to do all this in one performance is to fool those in the know. That shouldn't be your goal, if your performing this for people ( and I assume you are, and not just making youtube videos) they don't need all these convincers. It's too much showing of the can... ."the coin's in the can...we get it, just show me the coin in the can now" was what was going through my head when viewing this. I like how you showed the top before opening...that was nice but only if done subtley...if you "prove" your not conceaing something so much, it puts the thought of it in someone's head... The trick is puting a coin in the can... not "look I can hide this coin from you..ha ha ha". Lose the throwing segment and you've got some nice touches on a great effect.

WAy too much handling. Show the coin... bang...it's in the can, a little handling, open the can and pour out the soda.
THEN YOU KILL IT SHOWING THAT YOU CAN GET THE COIN OUT THRU THE OPENING. My touch (when the trick first came out) is you need a pliers or a stick -- something to ENLARGE the hole to get the coin out. :coffee:

Use a pair of scissors or a knife, but CUT the can open not only does this subtly say "it can't go through the hole in the top”, but until they actually see the coin in the can there is usually a smidge of doubt which is blown into oblivion when they see their signed coin with little drops of cola on it sitting in the bottom of the can. In addition, since the can is now destroyed and in a dangerous condition with its sharp edges, it gives you all the more reason to dispose of it quickly which prevents them from checking to see if the coin will fit through the hole. |
