I sell posters for $5, but give them away when they buy my dvd or t-shirts.
Although I may not be a "name" to the general public, hopefully to that audience, I am a "name"..... and have created a desire for a memory of the show.

I printed my photos on glossy, heavy stock paper (not photo paper) and they were black and white with a red "stamp" so they were not four color printing. I ran 10,000 and they cost me about 7 cents each. At a sale price of $1 I still make a decent profit.

I do a dollar and signed.
Here is the way to look at it. If you find those 10-15 people who will pay $5 for an autograph picture that is good. But you could find those 70-100 who will pay $1. Just think about it! -Brandon

If I could find 100 people willing to spend a buck for my autographed picture I probibly could sell half of them a $5 membership card to my fan club.
Thank goodness I have my wife to keep me grounded, or I would start to believe that baloney.

I'm with Tim Hannig on this one. Five bucks will do it per 8X10. That's for a good quality photo.
But, like he said- do a combo sale. This only works for me when I play in a theatre; never a corporate show- but you can easily do it at a benefit banquet gig. I do giveaways at a corporate show, but that's something totally different. If it's a national benefit organization show- most of the people want to meet/greet/socialize/drink afterwards anyway. So, it's a perfect time to set up your table with stuff. When someone buys a bunch of my merchandise; I normally would throw in either two 8X10s or just a large 16X20 color poster. Merchandise to me is a biggy. It reflects the professionalism that you have; and it gives the great crowd something to take home with them. Product sales at the end of my shows; normally are very helpful to me. Not only in added income, but future bookings. At corporate shows; I give a limited number of promo. pieces away. Many reasons for this one- mainly I'm making enough money to give the stuff away three fold. Two- it gives the clients something more to remember. They'll surely be reminded everytime they drink coffee out of my mug, or write with my pens. Your goal with any promotional giveway/merchandise is to keep them remembering you. If they had fun--- and enjoyed your show; five bucks isn't a whole heck of a lot for a photo. Something to think about:0) as always, best regards, Matt Tomasko

At $1.00 you would most likely be losing money, or gaining very little depending on photo quality. I would rather find 300 people who would pay $3.00. Now that would be sweet, but $5.00 would be a lot sweeter.

So it seems like that most folks who've responded as selling their photos are going with a price of either one or five dollars.
The photographer who did my photo shoot would sell 8x10's to me for about five bucks each. Anyways, paying five to make five would be breaking even. It would still be good publicity, and therefore, good in the long run; but not really making an immediate profit. I guess that asking the photographer to come down in the price for a large quantity order would probably be the approach I'll be going for. This way I'll have a bit of a profit and some good publicity. |

You have GOT to be kidding about paying five bucks each for photos.
