I'm a fan of Mr. Hodges work. One of the reasons I bought Sexy Magic. I've got a couple of other decks drawn by him so I will be adding this to my collection as well.

Thanks honus! Perhaps Babelfish could use a Grammar Host. Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe) would get a kick out of the use of his Babelfish.

Thought I'd give the translation a crack just in case Babelfish messed up a few things...
This deck of cards designed by James Hodges is specifically adapted for magicians who wish to do close up magic for young audiences. Each card has a picture which children will have no problem recognizing and remembering. You can also tell stories with the deck, as well as perform tricks with small packets or using the entire deck. You'll also find special gaffed cards in the deck, including a blue back/blank face, and a red back/blank face. * Deck of cards adapted specifically for kids (red back) * Images drawn by James Hodges * Poker-sized * An exclusive from "la boutique de l'illusion" (The Illusion Boutique) |

I love the Babelfish interpretation about magicians who "wish to make closed-up with young people." That's about the last thing anyone wants us to make . . .
This deck looks good. Also good for 1/2 or 1/3 the price are some of the decks at http://www.usgamesinc.com/ and tarots (such as mermaid tarot) from http://www.usgamesinc.com/error.html?msg=NOSQL And Newt's cards (google) has some good cheap superhero and Dora decks, to name a few. What I especially like about US Games is that they have decks celebrating childrens' authors, explorers, and scientists, and great women in US history, for example. I am tempted to buy some and sell cheap on Magic Café just to do my part to help us steer away from the celebrity worship we see rampant in our society. We should be promoting good role models. . . . But, I digress (and hate when that happens . . .). Hodges' deck seems very artistic, provocative, and wholesome and not conducive to pushing us towards "closed up magic" of the kind you can get an ankle bracelet or jail time for (LOL - I also loved Douglas Adams'series). |

Actually, the links above have some tarots (and a bunch of other good kids decks, including some animals and the explorers/inventors/scientists I mentioned), but the mermaid tarot (about the price of the Hodges deck) is at

Mumblemore,
Thanks for the links to the Tarot cards. I personally feel that the Patton Motivational cards would be ideal for the little tykes. If. of course, they include famous, unedited quotes from the great man himself.

I have found the scientist and inventor decks, as well women in American history to be really good for educational shows. I have some extra copies of these available in Tricks for Sale (I thought I'd get multiples to have additional cards to force, etc - but decided I could do this with just one deck). I also have some tarot decks available, which are another great way to "spice up" the mood on the cheap.
