Here is a fun Copper Silver routine that I came up with for the Hong Kong magicians. I was in a hole in the wall teahouse...fantastic food, I must say. While waiting for my order, I was fiddling with my Barber half and a 2HK Dollar. There were some tea cups and some coasters... This was the result. It's a modest effect, but I think you will enjoy doing it. The fun thing here is not the move, but the plot...well...at least for me and my buddies... LOL! I thought I'd share it with all of you.

Very clever implementation employed in your routine, Rannie. Nicely done as always, thanks. It helped to spark a few ideas in my thick skull.....

Those are some big tea cups.... lol I think what really makes the routine is the sound of the coins dropping. If you just used the cards, I don't think it would be as strong. It's a keeper. Tim You got me thinking...

Boss, thanks for sharing this. It's something one could use when at a dinner table. We don't really need to complicate things to mystify. This one is direct.

We imagined the virtual tea cups in the lecture, and finally see this real routine now. Nice plot, and the sound is a good convincer. But the move is something I need to work hard on...
BTW, Rannie, have you received my last few PMs? Or was your inbox already full?
please pardon my English

Rannie,
I thought you didn't get my PMs since I didn't see you reply, or is it my problem? Anyway...I bet you get too many PMs everyday. I surely remember this effect, as well as some other effects which use the same move that you've shown us. The other ones are nice, too! Have you tried using the 1HK Dollar? Do you think the 2HK and 5HK (the thick one) are easier to do the move with? Maybe it's just me, but I find it harder to use the 1HK dollar in this move. I think a slightly bigger coin would work better, for me at least. It's always great to discuss magic with a room of magician friends. We can all learn from one another.

Thank you very much, Blade! I'm workin' on them! I'll do it for you guys soon. Thanks for all the kind words.
Back to work for me.... 4 AM in Manila now... Your friend, Rannie P.S. I hope you guys try this out. Perhaps, even add some touches. Let's see this "little one" grow. I really love the element of sound and the identifying the coins using cards.

Too confusing for me, but then I'm not the shiniest coin in the purse.
Maybe if you used contrasting cards like a picture card and ace, blue back and red back, or even 2 cards with one saying "copper" and the other "silver", I could have followed it better. I'm sure this looks much better live, and I certainly feel there are other possibilities that can make it stronger. Always the critic, Best, Jaz |
