Thank you all for those comments about Kingdom of the Red

By the way, if you mention the code "stocking stuffer" when you order Kingdom of the Red, you'll receive in addition to a FREE dollar size Chinese coin, an additional FREE accessory related to routines in the book. Some of these bonus items will be taken from props sold on my website. If you are already ordering a prop from the website, I'll make sure you don't get a duplicate item.

I just received 'Kingdom of the Red' as a prize for Larry's last contest.(Thanks you Larry). It will take me a while to get through it, but as I do, I will post my progress.
The first thing that jumps out at you is the quality of the book itself. The construction of the book, the paper, everything is top notch, as good as anything out there. The Photos are excellent. The layout is well thought out. You also get a companion CD for the book. I am a visual type learner and the combination of book/video really works for me.
While going through the book, the content looks awesome and covers a ranger of effects from cards to ring and rope - to coins. Right now I happen to be working on Ring/Rope and Ring/String, so this book came at a good time. Larry has some different approaches to these effects than what I've seen in other routines.
Everyone has sleights/moves that they like to use. In my case, this book will give me more ammo for my arsenal.
'Kingdom of the Red' has something for everyone. I don't think you can go wrong purchasing this book. Yes I won the book, but would I buy it? Definitely Yes.
As I said, I will post more as I progress through the book.
This has definitely has me interested in looking into Larry's '21st Century Coin Mechanics'.

Thanks again Larry.

I've had KOTR for a little over a month now. I meant to write about it early, so thanks Jack for the reminder. The book itself is a work of art. I wish more books were made this way. It's a pleasure just to hold it and read it. I managed to get a deal on one of the seconds. Really, though, I can't see what would make my copy less perfect than a full price copy, not that I'm complaining at all.

The content itself is worthy of the artful way the book is made. I'm usually more into bizarre stuff, but this really appealed to me. While much of it is beyond my current level of ability, it really is motivating. I'm enjoying learning new things as I go through it. There's some really interesting magic inside. The dvd really helps you visualize what can be some of the more complicated instruction. Also, though some of the more unusual props are available from Larry, I enjoy working in my shop. Constructing some of the props involved has been and continues to be a lot of fun.

I highly recommend this.

Kingdom Of The Red. I’ve had this book for a month now and have finally read through it. It is one of the best books that I have ever had the pleasure to own. I love the layout, design and production of the book, also the pictures and the printing are very good. I picked up some of the props that Larry is selling to go along with the routines and they are very nice. The Time Tunnel prop is well made and works great. I even got myself the DVD which is a fantastic addition to the book. I am very happy with Kingdom Of The Red. Highly recommended.

I have to agree with Rudy, Mark, and Jack. I would also add that this book has so much original great material in it that almost anybody buying it will get their money's worth. In previous posts I reviewed the book and there are four effects from the book currently in my working act. Wedding Ring Redux alone was worth the price of the book for me.

I appreciate the positive feedback from BJ, Rudy, Mark, Jack and all the others who have took the time to comment favorably on my book.

A little news: The Time Tunnel components were finally shipped to me and should arrive this weekend. I will be producing new Time Tunnel kits next week. After I fill the back orders I will have SEVEN Time Tunel Kits available for sale. http://www.geocities.com/larrybarnowsky/kotr6.html
If you want one of these kits, I urge you to order it immediately since my experience has shown me that they sell out very quickly. There will be no price increase and the price includes First Class or Air mail Shipping Worldwide.

My Kingdom of the Red DVD got scratched up do to my carelessness. I emailed Larry and asked if I could buy another at $10. He promptly shipped me a new one at no charge and paid for the shipping. I just wanted to publicly thank him for his great service and generosity. The book is one of the best investments I've made.

I'll second wunceuponatime's comments. My Kingdom of the Red order failed to arrive here in Australia. Larry happily and quickly sent me a replacement. The book is simply superb, and a joy to work through.

Incidentally, the original book that was sent eventually turned up back with Larry after a round trip to Australia and the passing of three months.

In any case, a good buy, excellent service and high marks to both Larry and the book.

Thanks escherwolf for those gracious comments.

The mails are somethimes unpredictable. In fact, I shipped somes rings to a customer in Italy but they never arrived. It turned out I was going to be in Italy soon after the time I was contacted about the missing shipment. I took the rings with me on the trip from the USA, shipped them from Taormina in Sicily and they arrived in Torino the NEXT DAY. Way to go Italian Postal System!

On the same note, postal rates are going up in the USA in mid May so shipping rates will be adjusted on my website to reflect that. I'm keeping the International rates unchanged and absorbing the extra cost. Between that and the very weak dollar the book and props are an even better value.

Speaking of rings, I finally got all the moves and patter down for the Comedy Rope and Ring Routine. I had a blast with it featuring it at a party I was doing. There's a lot of room for comedy improv with this routine and the crowd really got into it including the two volunteers that held the rope.
Thanks.

As an experiment in marketing my book I thought I would try the following for the next two days through Sunday June 1:

Order the hardcover book/DVD at my website (by the signature below) and if you are not entirely delighted with your purchase, send it back and I'll refund your money. Just send the book and DVD back in decent condition.

This offer is good only in the USA for Magic Café members,
and only for the time period stated above.

I'm confident that you will be pleased with the quality of the material, the clarity of the explanations, and the originality of routines found in this book. I guarantee that you will not find a magic book produced with finer paper, sharper photos, or better layout than you'll find in Kingdom of the Red.

Thanks Joseph for the positive feedback.

Additional News:

1. The Time Tunnel Kits are back in stock. I made 11 of them and 4 have been sold. Anyone who orders the kit with the book will get FREE Priority Mail Shipping in the USA for both.

2. The Money Back Guarantee on the Kingdom of the Red was a successful venture. I am going to repeat that for this weekend June 20-22:

Order the hardcover book/DVD at my website (by the signature below) and if you are not entirely delighted with your purchase, send it back and I'll refund your money. Just send the book and DVD back in decent condition.

This offer is good only in the USA for Magic Café members,

I was looking at Stevens Magic Emporium website and found that they are carrying Kingdom of the Red in both the regular and collector's leather edition as an exclusive.

Just received my Kingdom of the Red and Time Tunnel from Larry. Very good quality and a lot of stuff I think I can use. It's a pleasure dealing with him. Will post more once I've had time to practice and try a few things out.

I just had to 'chime' in here...
I ordered Larry's coin book a while back and had sent him an email expressing concern that I had not heard back from him after having placed my order. Sure enough I receive an email right away from Larry (who was in Europe at the time!) assuring me every thing was fine. Great guy, great service, great book and judging by all the wonderful things I've heard about Kingdom of the Red I'll be adding that to my ever-growing library. Yayyy for books!!

I do a lot of strolling magic and two of the effects in this book are now part of my regular set. Urokinase is done with 4 black and 4 red cards and to say it is an oil and water type effect doesn't do it justice. It's totally impromptu with no extras or gaffs. The storyline is very unique and the ending will fry them. The second effect which I originally read but didn't perform until recently is an out of order type effect called Zero Sum Game. It's now a favorite and done entirely in the hands as a 3 phase effect with the climax happening in their hands. Only five cards used and no gaffs. Larry, do you have any more effects up your sleeve that we'll see in the future? Smile

Just a wee note to say that the web page /kotr3.html is flagged by Demon as containing indecent images of children. Larry - you may want to get in touch with them at http://www.demon.net to get things sorted out...

Take care, Ian
