Hi TMC!
I finally upgraded to silver coins!! This may not seem like much for some but it was quite a hefty investment for me. However I am definitely enjoying the coins, the feel, the sound, everything (I got some walkers BTW)!! The spectators seem to think of the coins more as "heirlooms" because of their oldness, in contrast to the newer-looking clad JFKs I had previously used. Most of all, I'd like to rave about the Schoolcraft Flipper. I am currently using it for Dan Watkins' "Four Coins, Your Hands." This routine KILLS! I just had to type all this due to my excitement.. If anyone would recommend any other good material with flippers/[s I will accept them wholeheartedly! Thanks, SH NOTE: I am not affiliated with Jamie Schoolcraft of Dan Watkins in any way. |

For flipper material, check out Troy Hoosier's work, especially "Silver Surf II"...

I just got a Barber Flipper and Deans set from Schoolcraft. Very nice, smooth.
Coin Man Walking is next on my list.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Are the Schoolcraft exp.] sets good? They seem significantly cheaper than the lassen e[set and the dean's set.

I don't have the sets but I do have a 64 e] and a Franklin e] by Jamie and I was able to match them to coins I had and I'm pleased with the work! I happened to hit a magic shop on a day they had just received a doz. or so Johnson W Liberty e]'s so I got to pick through and match up my coins so it's a darn nice set as well! Other coins I have from Jamie are real nice too!

I don't have a coin shop near me... and I was wondering, are the Johnson Walker e]s comparable at all to the Schoolcraft? I have about 7 walkers at the moment; do you think it is worth "the risk" to go ahead and get the Schoolcraft?
Sorry MickeyPainless.. a few more questions. Do the Johnson Walker e]s slightly worn, w/ patina, etc... or is it uncirculated? I do not have, nor like, uncirculated walking liberties. Thanks so much. Sahun |

Oops.. one more!!!
Are the Johnson Walker e[s deep? As in, as deep as Schoolcraft's (I want to get a gravity flipper, and would like a shell over it)? SH BTW.. I know about "edit" but for some reason it's not there right now. |

Hi Sahun,
I looked back at my receipts and my WL e] has no reference as to the maker so I must have assumed it was Johnson since I bought it in a shop but it is the same price as Jamie's so I'd say go with Jamie! Yes it is worn and has nice patina and yes it fits over my Schoolcraft grav. flipper perfectly! Good luck finding what you want and congrats on the upgrade to silvers, COOL! Mick |

Thanks guys, you are REALLY helpful, more than any other forum
I have about 7 walkers at the moment; do you think it is worth "the risk" to go ahead and get the Schoolcraft? And should I get Dean's set or e[ set.... the e[ doesn't have milled edges right? But I have no problem with not having milled edges. SH |

I see no risk in dealing with Jamie! I just got off the phone with Mike at Schoolcraft on another matter and once again I hung up the phone very satisfied!
My last order was filled the same day and I received it the next day (albeit I live less than 2 hours from from Schoolcraft). As I said in my other post my e]'s fit the coins I had on hand with the exception of 2 Franklin's that had been in a "Mint" set and they were just a touch tight. The Dean sets sure get great reviews but I have never handled them so I can offer no opinion. Mick |

Was hoping to read that you stepped up into a character that carries odd coins or into getting your gaffs made in common coins so you can borrow your props.
the steps will be there when you want to climb
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I'm tempted to suggest a novel interpretation of the copper/silver/brass trick but that too will be waiting for you...
IF you want a glimpse over the first step: Ask yourself why specifically you are carrying around those coins and then how the coins are perceived by non coin collectors and just ordinary folks. When you (or your performing character) has an answer you can respect... and that the audience hears as something more than quaint you are on your way over. Here's the usual trap: "this purse was my great grandmother's and these coins were my great grandfathers..."

I have used nothing but silver coins (1964 Kennedy Halfs) from the beginning. You can't beat how they look or feel. I've had nothing but good luck with Johnson Products.

Agg, I'm springing up more questions...
In the e] set (walkers), is ANY of the edge milling preserved? |
