Hello all,
I was hoping to find some help in this forum - I am not looking to take anyones's stage name but I am looking for ideas on what to use for a new Gospel magic show I have put together. We thought about "Holy Schmoley" but it was deemed to offensisve to some in the initial tests. Does anyone have a suggestion or two? I am a children's entertainer and do a lot of silly magic and antics so I would like it to suit me (so not the Pastor of Presdidigitation please) Thank you for you time (Perhaps the winner will be sent a gift /reward if I choose their name choice!) There was a guy who, no kidding, when you rearranged the letters in his name, it came out to "Tricked 'em!" I suggested it... I don't know if he ever used it or not, but I thought it was pretty cool. Of course, right off the top, I can't come up with anything specifically christian that I would consider as an existing part of your name. Norden. Mike. Uuum... Denier Monk? Redone Mink? Kinder Omen? End Moniker? The only other thing I can suggest is using some family friendly nonspecific name, as I don't know that much about you. Good luck, and if anyone else can come up with some idea, let everyone knoow if you think it's good. |

When doing a gospel presentation I generally just use my name. I do this because I don't want what I am doing in that context to be given an excuse to be regarded as just a show. Well, that's my $.02.

How about this one: "PHANTAZO", pronounced fan-tad-zo
It is Greek for "to make apparent, i.e. (passively) to appear (neuter participle as noun, a spectacle):--sight." It is found in this passage: Heb 12:20 For they could not bear the command, "IF EVEN A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT WILL BE STONED." 21 And so terrible was the sight<phantazo>, that Moses said, "I AM FULL OF FEAR and trembling." (NAS95) You may find other Greek words from Scripture that may appeal to you..... Just a thought. peace, phill

I think it's much more genuine to use your real name if working with churches or doing Gospel work. Why does anyone need to have a fake name as a Gospel performer? If it's all about us as performers then we missed the fact it's all about Him.
Just my 2 cents worth. |

???? in a world of multipul personalities maybe. It's different Payne when you're doing church work verses general public performance. I agree a stage name can be useful in promoting an image to the general public, but in the Gospel realm, I believe it's best using your own name.

I think using a name is good for marketing for one thing - but also if you perform corporate work and kids parties and gospel etc...then you need something to set yourself apart. Is the large company going to hire the person they had at the kids party? Or at their church? And for the same price? To me it's about having separate names to go along with separate advertising. Kid name for kids shows with kid style advertising - and something else for adults.
If my name is 'Master Payne' then I might not use that for the gospel or kids shows - it might be an idea to use an alias. No offense Payne! Mike |

All I know is that I'm really glad my parents named me Terry. It really worked out well because that's what people call me.

Hey Terry,
Yes - but I have 6 'Mike's' performing in my area - two alone call themselves 'Magic Mike' so maybe I should use 'Terry'. Mike |

Norden,
What is the theme of your new Gospel Magic show? Knowing that could help suggest either a stage name for you or a name for the show (or both). |

I go buy the IllusEvangelist, pronounced by cramming illusionist and Evangelist together. My show is based for all ages, but mainly youth to adults.
