For me it's easy.
#1. Milton Erickson, (Just the best hypnotist that has ever lived, past present future). #2. Dave Elman, (Now Dave Elman I know the least of, but I've heard nothing but good things about this guy. I mean look, he has probably one of the most famous inductions (tying with Erickson's "Hand Levitating Induction". #3. Ormond McGill, (Which his book "The New Encyclopedia Of Stage Hypnotism", is literally, and I mean that, is a must for those serious about getting into Stage Hypnosis. Note, two methods in there, one that uses Chloroform, and the Carotid Artery Induction, are not to ever be used. When a part of that book was written it was many years ago, when people did not know any better. He even says some of the stuff in the book are not to be used. He only included that stuff for completeness. Also some of the routines are outdated, but 90% of the stuff in the book is golden. Now there are other great Stage Hypnotism Books, out there, from authors like Lee Darrow, Jon Chase, Paul McKenna, Richard Nongard...etc, that are really good from what I here. To me ... if there was like a law that said you needed a license to do stage hypnotism, via a College course, yes the McGill, book, and let's add Lee Darrow's book in there that deals with safety issues...etc., would be required reading. Yes it would actually be against the law (if I were in charge....lol) to do stage hypnosis without reading those two books, and not passing a test based on those books... lol). So who in the past possibly now are your top three favorite hypnotists? Ed, (Eddini), C.H.

I would like to add Harry Arons, the father of direct suggestion as opposed to Milton Erickson, the father of indirect suggestion.
I would definitely agree with you about my dear late friend Ormond McGill. He and I became close personal friends toward the end of last decade and exchanged letters on alternating weeks, as long as he was healthy. He really enjoyed hearing my "on the road stories" and some of the wacky antics that took place while I was working hosting my shows. Ormond was truly one of the finest human beings I have ever known. His insights were incredible. if you'd care to hear any that pop into my head to please let me know. For his last show at the NGH, he had asked me to escort him up and down off the stage and to assist him to a small degree -- for me a personal honor I will never forget. I'll have to get back to you about a third one. John "The Trance-Master" Cerbone |

Hi John, I've seen you on the Nongard tapes. You are great. Yes PM me, I'd love to hear your stories. I do think (no offense to anyone) that Tom Silver, ANOTHER favorite (present day) Hypnotist. McGill and him have taught together so many times Tom, has so much unseen McGill footage. Tom has GREAT "Shock Inductions" on tape. I like how he uses a portable EEG Machine at his demonstrations. Yes John, look up My Routine, Pre-Induction Talk, and my Induction for your Input if you want to. I'm on myspace too, Ed, (Eddini), C.H.

MOST people do NOT want to Kill themselves, as Self-Preservation kicks in. Cults use constant indoctrination, isolation, food & water deprivation, some imagery techniques, punishment and reward, repetition, and possibly NLP techniques. And being a STRING CATHOLIC, don'y anyone be like as I've read before "Jesus was the greatest Hypnotist of all". I garuntee NOT only me, but you'll be hurting LOTS of people not right at all. He DIED so you may live for eternity in Heaven forever, and NOT HELL. Okay, let's name some others, they can be present. They can be BOTH HypnoTHERAPISTS, or STAGE Hypnotist, Ed, (Eddini), C.H.

Bigger tip of the day. Who said it is hypnosis?
The people you are talking about simply tell people what they want to hear. They take in kids who nobody will take in, they treat them like the family unit they don't have already they give them what they crave, then as repayment they ask only for BLANK. Why so many want to call it NLP and hypnosis and all that nonsense when all it really is comes to social studies. It is how gangs work, it is how cults work and so forth. Ed, really you need to expand your horizons a bit and maybe your reading list. NOT EVERYTHING in the world is NLP, (if that even exists) and hypnosis. You try to shoehorn all behavior into this catagory and you forget many things. Look up Maslow and work from there. You will be shocked. The world exists beyond the hypnosis concept, relly it does.

I ONLY mentioned that is that this is a Hypnosis / NLP board (yes I see them intertwined) ONLY after I mentioned the basic cult techniques. I'm well read NON FICTION mostly. I like True Crime too. A good book on Satanism (Who I have friends who are that AND Wiccan) called "Painted Black" by Carl Raschke. I've read other books on cults, and "The Occult. I even had the "Satanic Bible" (ONLY for educational REASONS only) by Anton Zsandor LeVay. I only had it a month and it freaked me out, so in the trash in went. Basically it teaches parents on what to look for in case your child / teen is involved with the occult. Anyone heard of the "Process Church",? A older (62) "Step-Dad / Best Friend". Well why the Process Church has great food (a common lure), (AFTER THIS LET'S STAY PRIMARILY ON TOPIC WHICH IS "What Top Three Hypnotist, Therapy and (or) Stage Is Your Favorite And Why?) Scripture...Etc, Charles Manson, and David Berkowitz had ties to it. Anyway Danny as I said Hypnosis never really EVER plays a part in cults, the other PLUS more techniques I mentioned. I ALSO love reading on Psychology, and Psychiatry. Okay back to the topic at hand. WHO is your favorite past / present Hypnotist, Hypnotherapist ever? Ed, (Edddini), C.H.
