I have found yet another wonderful application of the "Crimp Change" produced by Marion Boykin I think all of you people will enjoy! It evolved from the "Coin to Key" routine you can find in Bobo's "The New Modern Coin Magic". The end result is the same, but the means to get there is quite different.
This is just another very visual way of implementing the "Crimp Change" and "Blow Change". I watched the video, and to me it looks as though the coin just melts into a key with MB's expert hands at work. You can see it right here: http://www.magicvideodepot.com/view.php?a=v&t=11868 There is just so many possibilities for the "Crimp Change". If you haven't given it a try yet, you should! It brings all your magic out into the open for many very visual effects, limited only by your imagination. One of the best things is that you can learn the move in a very short amount of time and the "Crimp Change" versatility. I believe it is a steal for only $10 at: http://www.vinnymarini.com/

Perhaps you can add in the Heel Tap Change from Cultural Xchange 2 after the Blow Change. Because after the Blow Change, you are left with a good position to do the Heel Tap Change.

I was using a Coin-to-Key also.
I just haven't practiced the second phase (Blow) yet. Need to get on that. |

Watch out for yet another application as soon as Verrico, AKA "The Big Easy", puts it up on the Tube. Something from The Tavern Session tonight. Marion, my brothah, did it again alright!
Of course, thanks to Vinny The Godfather, who shared this wonderful tool called the Crimp. Rannie

Hey thanks guys, much appreciated. That vid has gotten over 400+ views in just 24hrs, WOW! Glad folks are really liking it. And hopefully it continues to encourage others to try the Crimp Change, for value and creative potential.
I appreciate all your great words fellas and look forward to the creativity with this move/effect/routine from others from around the world. I've had big fun developing it and appreciate all the support from La Famiglias and friends here. Now looking forward to Rannie's new magic book project, The Godfather's new dvds (that might have a very special bonus on it) and the continuing appreciation of the many magical possibilities of the Crimp Change. -Mb

Just purchased the Crimp Change. Even though I learned the DeManche Change 35 years ago, it never occurred to me to apply it this way. It always amazes me how a small change in finger position can make such a difference. Now, it's a fun move!

It is cool isn't it Nicholas!
I too am just learning the Crimp Change and where as I knew the mechanics (DeManche), I never made it look magical, just used it as a switch out! The Blow Change is AWESOME and I've been sitting here in front of my practice mirror entertaining the heck outta myself! As Marion say's "It just morphs from silver to brass"! Okay, back to practice! Way to go MB! Really beautiful in your hands. As the people here mentioned, there are a lot of other applications... here's another one that the boss was talking about, I posted it in this thread.

Thanks for the link to the video "Hong Kong Surprise - More Tea" Verricobl. Great routine an idea by Rannie! I think the handling was done very well, you can tell Rannie has that "Crimp Change" down, he makes the move so quickly and in a very polished manner, excellent.....

I'm pretty sure that Rannie's "Crimp Change" is his own unpublished move and came prior to MB's. Rannie can elaborate.
From talking with him and Vinny, they already had a "crimp change" handling prior to MB's. |

It was my understanding they all do the same basic move, the "Crimp Change", Podcastrant. It began with The Godfather and soon after came Rannie and finally MB. Now, Vinny and Rannie have been utilizing the move for years, but I was always under the impression they did it the same way as published by MB, but because of their lengthy experience with the move they have developed many other uses or applications along the way.....

If they're doing it the same and theirs came first, how can MB call it his?
When we got into the Crimp Change discussion/argument months back, they always differentiated between theirs and MB's, so I figured there must have been a difference. |

Oh please NOT again Pod! It's a fun and cool move and everyone involved is fine with it's history, crediting etc. etc. etc. Lets all focus on T11 and the DD swindle instead!
Peace, Mick |

I was just clarifying to Fingers, that Rannie has his own version of "The Crimp Change" that was prior to MB and that was probably the one he was doing in the video link posted above.
My comments were not meant to start up the old argument, because in my eyes it's a non-issue and has already been conclusively solved. |
