I'm sure I'm just missing a previous thread on the same topic, but I'm ready to take it up a notch, and I'm looking for the magician-specific marketing materials that are available. I really don't have the money for a seminar yet, so I'm looking for books, etc.
What's out there? Who's good? Thanks! |

Hi Jim,
Great to see you on The Café! I haven't been here in quite some time but I just hired an assistant and I feel free! (another "High-Class" problem I have because the marketing works so well that I need an assistant!) Yes, Dean, I too would recommend Jim's course. It's great stuff from someone who has actually done it. That would be my criteria if I were you, find someone who has or is doing what you want to do and learn from them! It's worked for me. Yours in success, EP

Let me further add this if I may.
Jims course is not for the faint of heart. It does not promise false riches, get rich quick schemes or anything of the sort. It is a blueprint for a career that you will have for a lifetime. It requires you to get up off of your hind parts and work HARD for it. Be willing to do that and my recomendation stands. If not then I withdraw it completly. Jim himself will tell you this is how it is designed. As a side note I called Jim myself for help not a week ago. What a wealth of information he is and willing to help a cranky guy like me. He deserves a sainthood.

No doubt, Jim's stuff rocks! Too, depending on your experience in the success education, Jim’s is often one of the first I recommend as well... YOU MUST have a firm foundation to build your healthy business upon, Jim's course does that!

Yes, I don't want to learn a few gimmicks. I've looked at Jim's course contents and get the impression that it's a real business course, not like those "Get rich today in real estate using my money" style things. And that's what I need. Because I'm experienced at sales, and a little at pounding the pavement, but beyond that I need a lot of direction.
Sometimes I don't know what I like more, the magic or the business. Thanks, everyone. |

Sometimes I don't know what I like more, the magic or the business. Well with that attitude, you've only got one place to go. To your room! No I meant, "Up." "To your room" is where I'm supposed to go because that's where the current marketing book I'm reading is... Edd

Scott,
Scott, I've only done a few programs in Canada over the years, but the fundamental principles of building a performing business apply anywhere. The examples I provide are from my own experiences working as a magician in upstate New York, which is not unlike many parts of Canada. The fees may be a little different, but hte markets are probably similar. Furthermore, I've had a number of Canadians, as well as countries in Europe, invest in my course and I've received no negative feedback. I think any Canadian will find it helpful. Thanks for asking. Do yourself a favor and buy a non-magician-related book. You don't need to pay extra for advice from a magician.
Plus, people like Brian Tracey, Dan Kennedy, etc. have a lot more knowledge than most "magician marketers." Most of them are just trying to make a buck getting magicians into thinking they need this system/book/CD/DVD/etc. because it's "made specially" for them. Josh London |

Josh,
I was a door to door salesman for about 15 years in a variety of different industries and markets throughout Canada. I own an impressive library on motivation, sales and Marketing from most of the so called greats people like tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Brain Tracy, Joe Girard to name a few. Some of it is great material some not worth the paper its printed on. One thing I've learned is the is no substitute for industry specific material, because a lot of sales and marketing methods and strategies are not transferable to one industry to another. Scott |

Why reinvent the wheel? If someone has taken the time to break down the marketing process from Kennedy (or anyone else), and has applied it to the magic field, and has made it work for him, and has turned it into a course to help other magicians, I say "more power to ya!" I've invested in many of these courses, and they've *all* helped me in one way or another. Here are some "industry specific" programs and courses that magicians may find useful (I say *may* because it will all depend on whether or not you *act* upon what you're learning): 1. Jim Snack's Success-in Magic Course 2. Jack Turk's 90 Day Market Mastery System for Magicians 3. Dave Dee's Mega Marketing for Magicians 4. Eric Paul's How To Become Your Area’s TOP Children’s Entertainer 5. Dean Hankey's Powerful Pre-Paid Profits Program There are several other good ones as well (Brad Ross, Randy Charach, Chris Egelston, Julian Franklin, Rick Allen, Steve Hart, etc.). But those listed here will go a long way in helping you develop a rock solid business, as well as helping you to earn a good living for yourself. But only if you take action on what you're learning. Dean (and anyone not named Dean, for that matter), I just finished an interview with Jim Snack before leaving for Indiana (on purpose, yet!) and the guy just GIVES AWAY invaluable advice which is worth dollars in your pocket. I'm actually feeling hesitant about releasing some of the stuff in the interview -- it's SO GOOD, I'd love to keep it for my greedy little self.
Jim's course is everything everyone has told you -- and one thing more. It's NOT a marketing course, though it will teach you to market yourself. It's a CAREER course, and is as close to a personalized step-by-step set of instructions which will teach you to First, establish your business. Next, grow your business (and focus outward). And then, establish your business firmly -- and lead you to double your net income each year. Please read that last sentence again. And the support from Jim -- all I can say is, you won't believe how much he supports his customers. He doesn't have one-time customers, he'll build you into a client-for-life. *jeep! --Granpa Chet PS: Brian, I am so very excited about Dean Hankey's upcoming course, and can't wait to see it. The guy knows what he's doing.
