Hi. The question is the title. If you just do one effect, which is vanishing a coin, which one would you do to impress someone? The coin is not reproduced, it is gone. Both hands are clean at the end.
I have just 2 in mind. First: Revolution Coin Vanish - for videos or info go to ellusionist.com The one that gets my vote as the best method for vanishing one coin completely is this. I do not know the name, but you rub the coin on the elbow of your right hand and the right hand has a lot to do with the method. I think I have said enough. This is the effect that absolutely amazed me and somehow got me started in magic somehow. I wanted to know how to do this. Even after I could vanish a coin like Revolution or thumb/finger. Classic palm, I still did not know how to do that, I didn't see it again. But then I saw it again and realised how simple it is. He even used no false transfer. (He was amazed by my classic palm vanish, which I did very nonchalant once and still thought his vanish would be far better because both hands were empty.) He transferred the coin in full view without any cover and just pretended to still have it......back to topic. What's your opinion on the question? greetings, Gelbe |

Now I am ashamed. What is a Topit? I've read about this everywhere around this place, and I know Ammar has a take on it. If someone wants to enlighten me, he should feel free to drop me a PM. All I know is it has to do with clothes or jacket pockets, or something like that.

A search on that word will bring up much detail. And a search on "workaroo" will get you up to the latest on places to ditch and ways to recover.
Let's not forget all the goodies in Bobo's book that pertain to complete vanishes, too.

Ditto to what JT said here, and do take a look here at Justin Miller's "Silver Dream". To me, it don't get much better than that in doing such things. -Mb

Bluff vanish... All you have to worry about is the presentation. I have gotten better responses from this than anything else.

I second the Bluff vanish....
I would also suggest New Era Coin Go as a complete Vanish. It's ballsy, but beautiful.

Another vote for Bobo's "Complete Coin Vanish". It has served me very well over the years. It's also a nice way to end up clean after doing a Bobo Switch. The misdirection of a magic wave is perfect.
Any technique using s******g or a topit is also good. Gregory Wilson's "All Around Vanish" is a nifty way to ditch a coin while proving the coin is really gone. In the end, it is! Finally, let's not forget the venerable "Raven" or a simple p**l.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

I use the Pentium Vanish in Stand-Up Coin Power - http://www.leirpoll.com/coinpower.htm
It utilizes something as a holder, and you can show both hands empty. Jeff

The soft coins I use work well. With good finger pressure, the coin shoots all the way up to my elbow. Two mentioned good ideas while I was writing this. Pocketing is very effective using misdirection, but be careful when you have a group of people all around you as I have experienced at fairs. Many times, I back up to my exhibit trailer to cover my back when doing vanishes. The Modern Coin Magic video by Magic Makers, Inc. is excellent on some good vanishes. If any of you are serious about coin magic, this video is a must buy. Being a beginner like me, a lot can be learned from this and other well made media.
theres a lot to learn out there, many interesting subjects, and hobbies to enjoy

For me the Catapult Vanish and rear thumb palm breast pocket ditch. The Catapult has been getting a lot of use lately as I discovered I got good at doing it sleeves up.
Almost forgot Sol Stone's method of shirting from Kaufman's Coin Magic has worked well for me, as well as a variation I do that looks like a finger tip retention pass using the shirt like a topit. |

Simply a retention vanish with a rid-off. Depending on what I'm wearing, it might be a topit, pocket, breast pocket, sleeve, or I might even do a cuff.

One handed toss into the topit as I turn the fist from palm down to palm up. I use this all the time for real life situations. I also like my take on Shoot Ogawa's Wrist Palm Vanish. To be honest, I do that vanish for more friends and other magicians. Angles can be an issue with that one, but it's still a great vanish.
