Just found this and hadn't seen it before. I like the concept, very clever.

I love the concept being applied to this illusion. Enough with the BLACKNESS that so many illusions feature.

Ya the mirror is abit obvious, especialy on the sides, maybe a new patern or material should be used for the inside and not the diamond plate metal? But good idea!

While the mirror may be partially visible at the close range the photos were taken, I don't see it in the longer shot on the video. This is probably what the audience will see as well, when performed in proper environment ie. not a living room. Great concept. I agree with Blair, nice departures from the usual dark, gloomy, suspicious black we always see.
All the best, John |

A little over six or seven months ago, I had the privilege of seeing this in person. The one pictured on his site is the original prototype I am sure (but don't quote me on that); however, even up close, it is beautifully deceptive. I like that Tim is gradually steering illusionists away from the standard methodology when designing new (and creative) illusions. With Tims creative design work and original concepts, I'm sure he could make these to fit your style if you are not completely satisfied with the look of the one pictured.
As far as the comments concerning the mirror being obvious on the sides... again, you should see this in person. Even up close, you could not make a big distinction of the depth in the box. It appeared as if the whole interior was empty (without the use of having your audience peer into a pitch-black box prior to the revealing of the assistant...remind you!) I think the use of smoke and the bright lights add a great deal of "distracting psychology" right before the initial appearance. I truly believe Tim is a valuable resource to the magic community in the way of new concepts and illusion design/ fabrication. I love the work he's done in his book Advanced Illusion Projects and I know many of you have seen his work but didn't realize it was his on recent "magic specials"... Who knows what is next! I particularly like the way the smoke looks when it first starts to stream into the box. Steve how about "The MirrBlammo Smoke Chamber"? eh? EH? ...ok maybe not. Still a cool piece though.
