Seriously, their cutting in half illusion is just unbelievable.
Also, I love their Origami. I had no idea Wellington built that style, it looks very... different. youtube.com But the way, what is that music? Its very original, I've never herd any magician's use it before. |

This is a the perfect example. Even though the audience are witnessing the most obvious illusions in history they are still applauding. Sometimes we do crap and we justify ourselves by saying "the audience likes it". We have to give our audience some credit and we should be able to recognize when they are just being nice.
Thanks, Reynold |

The intro music has been used all over the place. I'm not sure of the title or writer. Anyone else have any idea?

Well I really like the music they placed over the live audio, but decided NOT to get rid of the live audio...two different songs playing at once. I also really enjoyed the edit when he couldn't get the first sword into the folded box. Another thing, why would one start out with a black box only to fold it into a 'smaller' box which is white?...not only did it start out huge...but now it looks even bigger.
They go by the name of GrandsIllusions...maybe they named themselves on how much they spent on the whole show...about two grand. Although personally I think they got ripped off. Kevin

Oh my! I loved the over sized leg cuffs, looks like they could have fit around her waist. And the box, well you could have fit a circus in there lol.

Their second video is even better. I don't understand why they made the edits to look like they were going quickly with the blades, they were already moving so fast that I stayed awake. I also love of the change of music from Robert Miles' "Children" to a polka on the same illusion, but was greatly surprised that "Children replayed". No ad nauseum here. I like from both videos how all the illusions all looked the same style-wise. Love the all black look. As for the first video, I'd like to quote the song used in the suspension in regards to the audience responses. Bjork's "It's oh so quiet" |

I always have a hard understanding on how someone can build, or design a prop that looks like this (these) and think it look's good, and mystifies.
Do they not have access to books, t.v. or the internet??? Where is their eye? Blair Marshall "ShaZzam!

Everyone is missing the point ... the backdrop in the first video... the one used for a dancing hank.. is used to distract you from the decepfulness of the sawing in half.. do not focus on the illusion.. just the background... it is like those pictures you can look into and see things in 3D.... then the illusion is really "thin"

Well done everyone. Such impressive, witty and pithy comments; and such a hard target too.
I guess now you've all staked out your superiority over an obscure local magic hobbyist living on a tiny island in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa (I read it on his youtube profile page). It surely can't be long before you're all destined for great things. Give yourselves a well deserved pat on the back. It's a toss up as to which is the sadder aspect of the magic community, the youtube posted clip or the sanctimonious comments in this thread. Neal.

Neal...ever heard of tough love? Plus, I certainly don't see you coddling him.
Kevin P.S. Your signature states there is no golden rule..."treat others as you would like to be treated." Doesn't that negate the point you're trying to make in your post and instead, actually paves the way for this very thread?
