So are do you make a strong and extraordinary first impression?
What's the first thing you say to someone when you are meeting him for the first time?
When Annemann shook people's hand thay were startled at the very cold feel of his hand.
I have my own way of introducing myself to people:The Deautsch Invisibilty{stupid title-great trick}-i suddenly appeared in front of you.
What about you?
Did you ever thought about this?
A normal guy will just say hi,but who says we are normal?...

How to make a strong and extraordinary first impression... smile for two seconds longer than they do. (I occasionaly introduce myself as the "famous Drew McAdam". At least it raises a laugh.)

my favourites are:
speak backwards, as if you play a trecord backwards

to move my eyeballs very fast from the left

to the right at a high frequency (only few can do this, and it freaks people out!!!)

shift my gaze (as looking through them and whispering a personal information about them I got secretly before

well...

Nah! Normal is a college town in Illinois.

In statistics - Normal is 90 degrees away from whatever you're talking about!

Chat normally (sic) to them and when you have gained their trust look directly into their eyes as they talk to you. Don't stare: look. Just enough to be significantly more than people usually do (to strangers). This will make an impression. When you return later with your nail writer or whatever they will remember you as the intense/ strange/ talented/ considerate/ outsider...play it to your advantage.

It depend, of course, on you style. If you are into "comedy mentalism" this would not be all that appropriate.

If it is a woman, comment on how beautiful her aura is today.

If it is a man, comment on how strong his grip is.

Hal, I like your suggestions.
How about.... confidently, "where would your mind like to go today?"

Yaniv,
I am not sure I understand the context of the meeting. Are you asking about meeting an agent or a booker for the first time? Are you being introduced at a friend's social gathering as one guest to another? Are you bumping into someone you know at the local grocery store and he introduces you to his wife?

In any case, I think to come on strong is a mistake. Most working pros that I know do not come on like gangbusters, but are polite and genteel in all situations. Personally, I think it keeps the person whom we meet from being defensive and/or challenging. Make friends, first. Or at least have them like you. There is usually no need to dazzle them upon your first meeting. Dazzling isn't always a good impression, especailly in mentalism.

Again, a lot depends upon the context of your meeting.

Just my opinion.

Gordo,

I don't think I can. Essentialy they are a string of nominal statements, which he goes over in his book. Leaving the person for the most part impressed,/and or asking you for more information, either about what you do, or more about them. I've had success with it.
If I were to spell out the statements, I think that would be unfair.

E-Leoni.
