I just finished watching John Mendoza's routine and explanation of Translocation. In the explanation and his coins across he made the point several times that he felt the gimmick was quite noticeable to an astute spectator and structured his routine with that in mind.

Do others agree?

(actually I, also, think it is obvious, but I know many don't).

I'm still puzzled. Is this about the John Kennedy trick? I was going to ask for a link to the video of there's a JM handling.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I don't agree, that the gimmick is obvious to laymen ad for "astute" spectators, it shouldn't be. What John Mendoza was talking about was that he thought an expanded shell is much more noticable than an unexpanded shell when laying next to other coins. He believed that the fat coin is easier to see than the shorter coin. I don't remember him structuring the routine to confuse the astute spectator, he structured it so that he could do it with an unexpanded shell. Then again you can always ask him, he posts on the Café as runawayjag.
