I was thinking of using film clips from several theatrical releases as an opener in my program, does anyone know what the cost would be to do this for licensing agreements.

You have to check with the publishing companies who produced the films on this. Its not cheap. If you are using this for public performance, you have to get permission from several sources including ASCAP for the music used in the film clips also. The issue that you will run into is using the images of actors, and you have to pay certain rates for using their likeness in anything you advertise them in. If you don't, SAG (Screen Actors Guild) will most likely get involved, and can cause tons of issues for you that you probably don't want to get into.
I would suggest shooting your own movie clips and doing it that way. Not only will it save you money, but it will keep you out of 'hot water' Hope this helps.. |
