To my knowlege Jim has never taken a "DIME" for contacting someones dead relatives. He's never attempted to "Connect" with Angel's father either...What a LIE. He's using the unfortunat death of his own FATHER to perpetuate his BS. What a BAD PERSON! I will be commenting on all of this...AND blaming Jim for 911...What an idiot!

Of course Dave you are spot on !! he uses emotional issues and BIG disasters to get a BIG number of folks on his side [not speaking of these air headed teen agers but of adult population here]
If only Jim Callahn could be invited in other shows to answer back to that moron .. ?! -: |

This is such an old post now... but didn't Jim end his performance saying "I hope you enjoyed my entertainment," or something similar?
Didn't Criss Angel just close out the third season of MindFreak by connecting to a dead girl and her killer? Just putting that out there... |

And dint Kreskin claim to have helped police investigations ??
if so I wonder why JREF is so selective onn who to debunk and on who to close their eyes [actually I know why and many well informed people here know also] |

Criss is doing what Criss does. He tears down others to build himself up. Didn't anyone watch the first episode? Did he have a nice thing to say about anyone that wasn't also an opportunity to promote his own effects? He's been swallowed whole by the media machine and has sold out for the almighty dollar.
Seriously, is anyone surprised at all by this interview? It was filled with information that had nothing to do with Jim or his performance. The constant referrals to his father were blatant exploitation to add "credibility" to his stance. He heard Jim say it was entertainment at the end, but he recognized the larger opportunity to get on the Randi pulpit and "save the world from charlantism". As brilliant as it was for Jim to select the piece he did and instigate a confrontation with Criss to make himself stand out from the competition, Criss is no dummy either. He has learned the art of manipulating the media (maybe it's from eating all of those cameras on his specials), and as the co-host of the show, he will carry more weight than the contestants and he knows that. He used that to his full advantage in his interview, using statements out of context and practically painting a fellow performer as a terrorist. This was a ticking time bomb. There was no way an over-the-top performer like Criss was going to allow himself to be outdone. Criss has done a masterful job of merging charlatans with performers and confusing people on the real issue. What Jim did on Phenomenon is EXACTLY what Criss does on his shows. They both set up a premise to build drama, and gave enough disclaimer to avoid being charlatans while still keeping the mystery around their performances. Criss isn't looking for the next Phenomenon, because in his mind he IS the only phenomenon. To me, it only showed who he is really worried about stealing his thunder. He wasn't nearly as cruel on the second episode, but I'm hesitant to credit him for showing some class as this was probably prompted by the producers of the show. I'm really bummed out that Criss has taken this road to fame. I was so sure that he was going to be one of he classy and humble ones like Burton and Henning. I wasn't only a fan of his magic, but also his music. Even though I'm not a fan of Criss anymore, it isn't for his image that most of his haters go to town on. I like his look and as far back as 1998, he was into a rock/goth look, which I personally like. I don't think he's a poser, and I don't think he's a poor performer. I just think he's a sellout who let his ego get the best of him. It happens to many people who get famous, so I'm not judging him for it. I'm just disappointed because he was one of my favorite performers. It will be interesting to see how Jim conducts himself in his rebuttal interview. It will also be interesting to see how the producers handle this "friction" on future episodes. While they may want to capitalize on it for ratings, one has to wonder what giving all this extra attention to one contestant would do to the other contestants chance of a legitimate shot at winning the competition. I'm just hoping that Jim decides to be one of the classy/humble ones that we can all be proud of. |

Really exposes one's lack of knowledge in general, not to mention the lack of understanding of the position of Uri Geller and Criss Angel on the show! To blatantly disregard the clear facts and statements made by someone, only perpetuates such delusion. The belief that he was just acting "in character" to suspend disbelief is without merit. It goes against his very own words here, his website and his intro on that very show, to include his actions after the fact! Is he acting "in character" while trying to defraud the JREF with his bogus claims of paranormal abilities? Is he misrepresenting himself on his very own website? Yes, he is an entertainer, with potential to be one of the greats, but there is more to his character at the moment than some of you want to acknowledge or simply refuse to see! I'm sure Raymond will set the record straight when he returns in 2045! |
