Boxing Match by Masuda.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo2g7jrKkZE Effect: 10/10 Super visual! A Joker is taken out of the pack. The person chooses ANY card, there is no tricky forces. Example they pick 7 of Clubs. You show them the card case to be EMPTY. You put the Joker in the card case, flick your finger against the box, and the Joker visibly changes into a 7 of Clubs! Both the card and its match are given out for examination, and the box is empty! Method: 10/10. A easy 10. Super clever. You will USE this gimmick, it wont be lying on the bottom of your magic stuff box. You can use this for a lot of things. It is a gimmicked card box. Some stuff you can do: Get them to choose a card from a redbacked deck, palce it in the box, and it's back changes into blue! Make a selection appear inside. The selection disapears and appears face up in the deck. On the instructions it even says: "This gimmick has a lot of applications, and we hope you have fun finding them". Gimmick: 9/10 You get a deck of red bicycles, instructions, the box. The box is gimmicked. If you put the deck back into the box, and do the trick on soft surfaces, I bet this trick will last a life time. It's selfworking too. Cons: Not examinable, but you show the box empty, they will know it's empty cause it is. Now the Pros: Super Visual Super Easy Amazingly Stunning Give both of the cards out to be examined! This gimmick has 100s of applications, be creative and you will find so many new tricks with this. Reset will be 3 seconds. Overall: 10/10 I enjoy this trick a lot. It's just something that you will use

I love this trick also. The only thing that I've found is doing the trick on soft surfaces is hard to perform, the box sometimes tips over the wrong way on a soft surface if you don't flick the box to the ground just right.

Yes, I only perform this on my close-up pad.

I wood rather say it's ALMOST selfworking... There is one move you have to do correctly to do a convincing switch. But very little practice for big rewards! |

I do not use the move suggested in the instructions. I just naturally turn the box in the most effective position as I place it down. That works even better in my opinion as it does not draw as much attention to the box. I think the move in the instructions works but it is easy to get by without it. I agree with the review, however, that this is a good piece of utility equipment that has uses far beyond the suggested routine. I just wish it was designed for tarot cards.

Yes, it's a bit knacky, and simcosor..are you a fan of Masuda's magic? I have FBH, Boxing Match, WOW, Awatenai Awatenai and Mystery Hole and you almost have everything from Masuda. Just to let you know, Masuda might be releasing another trick, where the signed card rises to the top while being inside the box.

First time when I read the instruction, I don't believe it will fool people when you do the switching. But after several performances, it's indeed quite deceptive. Very good and visual card change.

Yes, your move is very clean MagicianDM, thanks for the demo! When I first read the BM' instructions, I was really surprised that I had MISSED THE MOVE on the Masuda's video! It's so simple, yet so deceptive...I like it!
Yes, I consider myself as a fan of Masuda: I bought almost every items he has (except: DaMasuda Deck and ring Teleport). I admit that I had never heard of him before WOW came out on the market... I also discovered Japanese creator Kreis recently. I like mostly his card elevator, and converter. So, when you announce that Masuda might be releasing his own "elevator" effect, I'm quite excited about it. I already read your brief description of the effect to come (on another Masuda's thread... Please let us know If you hear more about that project! |

Simcoscor, I also have some Kreis Items, Blind Sight which is genius, and Double Miracle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_mNeaNVWSg - there is the elevator by Masuda, its on his DVD but no explanation. I thought I knew how it works and constructed 2 different gimmicks (8 hours total) and failed to get the method. I will buy it as soon as it gets out.

Hey MagicianDM, this elevator effect fools me badly! It will be a must on my next purchase list! This is EXACTLY the kind of magic effects I'm looking for!
I will also take a closer look to Kreis' Blind Sight. I remember seing Double Miracle, but it didn't impressed me enough... As a fan, you should look for Masuda's Visual Transformation. Very different & quite ingenious! Certainly one of his best! |

Could one insert the pieces of a torn card into this box and then have a restored card come out of the box missing one piece. Will the gimmick hide the torn pieces as long as they are placed into the box flat and not piled up?
Also, can the box be closed completely or does the mechanism only work with the box open? Thanks for any information Howard

Howard,
yes you can perform the torn and restored card, as you describded. And the torned pieces can almost be piled up (they don't have to be placed perfectly flat). Also, the box can be closed completly before and/or after the switch. But it has to be open during the switch. Hope this helps |

His looks pretty cool. P.S. I'm still really enjoying Boxing Max. I had to remove cards from the bottom half and put more of the cards in the top half into the pack since quite a few people kept wanting to grab from lower in the deck. |
