Paramiracles, Artful Mentalism, and Theatre of the Mind (1 & 2) didn't make my top five (and probably should have), but they've been mentioned by others here, and I must admit, they're as important "must-reads" as anything out there.

A good book on reading Body Language (found in the Self-Help/Psychology section at a regular book store) would be good to add into the mix as well!

Amateur Magician's Handbook- H. Hay
-It's all in here Mind, Myth, & Magick- Waters -Basically a how-to of moving from moves and techniques to actual routines Strong Magic- Ortiz -How to evaluate yourself and your magic/mentalism, and improve them both. Art of Astonishment series- Harris -The written pieces on Astonishment should be required reading. The effects themselves are varied and anybody should be able to find several somethings for them out of this. This last slot is pretty tough to fill, I haven't even got to 13 Steps, PME, anything from Banachek or Becker, etc... Hmmmm... HMMMMM... Well, in terms of impact, I am going cheat and go with a three-way tie: PS 1 and 2 (Banachek) and Rick Maue's Lecture notes from 2006 Mindvention. |
