I tried to use cork too. Quiet, but like you said, awfully light.
You know whats fun? Using small key limes. I asked my wife to buy me some limes for a show I was doing. She came back with this bag of key limes... Needless to say I was perplexed because she has seen what I do with them, but I tried to use them as balls and they worked really well. Nice weight, quiet.

Fortasse,
I did some cork drilling and it seems the key is medium speed and a sharp bit or a small burr on med-high speed dremel. I used a 9/16 wood bit and dropped in 4 tiny split shots and it gave the cork a better feel! I think you can get a little more in it too! Mick |

I use the Mike Roger Baseballs that I've dyed using tea bags to look much older and used then they actually are. What's cool about this is the balls are now a flesh color so they hide much better when palmed...

I guess having a flesh colored ball is O.K. it would help some things for sure. I prefer to have a ball that really stands out. From my hands, the cups, the mat.... It does make palming a tad bit more cerebral, but I like the effect.

Has anyone tried the monkey fist balls that some guy is selling on "Let's make a magic deal!" under "Tricks & effects for sale or trade..."? Here is the link:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=76&11 He said, "Selling handmade monkey fist balls in the colors red, white, green, yellow. Each set contains 4 balls. I use Satin cord and a marble for this. The balls come out to be around 1 inch. The prices are 10 dollars ( This also includes shipping). Can also combine if you buy more sets. Matt,
I have made sets like those with marble cores with several different types of cord and to be honest I think the Josh balls are superior in looks and compared to the ones I made (which are well done) I still like Josh's! Also if you use a chop cup or combo's Josh has ya covered there too and IMO the gaff is perfect! Mick |

Hey everyone,
So over the past two days I made a set of monkey fist balls with blue suede lace, and today I tried doing a galloping post move with these balls but it didn't work. Does anyone else find it nearly impossible to do a galloping post move with leather/suede monkey fist balls? Also, do Josh's satin monkey fist balls have this same problem? -Matt |

BTW, thanks to LyleMagic's suggestion, I soaked my Mike Rogers miniature baseballs in dark tea and left overnight. They are now a lovely yellow-brown colour that gives them the appearance of great age.....on top of which the colour is now more "flashproof" than before when the balls were starchy white.
