I realize that this may be a little odd but I currently own one of these for practice on.
http://www.inflatablemannequins.com/item......list.htm Don't worry though, these are mannequins used for display purposes (like in department stores) so they're pretty much perfect for use in practicing lifting stuff from them. I have mine just leaning in a corner of my entertainment room and it just looks like a bizarre decoration. |

I would never get a Inflatable Mannquin...they never stand up.
I have bought myself a shop mannuquin...cost me 200 bucks though it was worth it. Better than using friends all the time. JaY-JaY

Can't you get stands for them?

Yes you can get stands. The site I provided sells stands. All the dummies are made with slots in the mid-back for the stand to slide into.

Great! The other brands I have seen just attach to the feet and so are unstable.

1. Practise the moves and techniques (finger placing, how much pressure)
2. Get a mannquin (try and practise as much with him/her) 3. Try it out on family/friends 4. Everytime you do a show take what you need 5. The more shows you do the better you will be able to take stuff with the surrounding enviroments. Gigs are always different pickpocketing then a mate standing their for you. JaY-JaY

Do you find it easier to achieve the steals on stage as opposed to trying on friends and family.

Well yes as friends have seen me pickpocket them over and over. Though once you have got your corrent technique down and correct patter, it should be easy to take it off strangers.

Ebay mate.
The best option - that's what I did. I paid around $200 for one.

I just went into a local jc penny department store and asked a manager. I told a little fib about "its for a boyscout project" but they gave me one without a thought. Just ask around, you can get a yes pretty easy with a good story.

I was looking to buy a Mannequin and was interested in the inflatible ones due to the lower price. Are they sturdy enough to work on belt and necktie steals and if so would it be better to get a full form with legs, arms and head or just the torso.

They are sturdy enough for necktie steals. I have not really practiced much on belts steals so I couldn't say for that. I own a full form dummy and it works pretty well.
