Does anyone know if the TV specials like World's Greatest Magic and Champions of Magic and the World Magic Awards were made into videos or DVDs? Are they still shown around the Halloween season as re-runs?
I grew up watching them in the '90s, and they're what got me into magic in the first place, so I'd love to be able to watch them again. Thanks. N!H

I second that. Watching World's Greatest Magic around Thanksgiving time each year with my Grandfather when I was very young is precisely what got me interested in magic. I wish they were still on.

The Family Channel or TLC use to run them often. Their are a ton of clips from those shows up on Youtube.

Only specials I know of on DVD are some of Mark Wilson's Magic Circus specials he did over the years. And in those, while he sometimes had guest star magicians on them, the DVD's only have Mark's performances on them, probably due to performance rights etc.

Amazon.com is beginning to offer some video downloads that will include TV specials. I've selected five which may be of interest to magicians and posted them on the front page of my Web site. Unfortunately, none of the ones mentioned by Nathan in the first post of this thread are among them, but in time, they may eventually become available.

The old Doug Henning Shows are what got me interested.
Anyone know if any of those are availible? I did watch an old Muppet Show where he was the guest star recently. Great stuff. Clay

I did buy Doug Henning's Broadway hit "the magic show" on DVD. I was a lttle dissapointed. I had seen it live when I was 10 or so and for some reason, it doesn't hold up very well 35 years later. Hmmmm..

Maybe that's why it didn't seem familiar. I just thought it was a 35 year memory lapse!
