From what I've been exposed to there aren't too many books specifically on Bizarre magic. Do you just look at regular tricks and try to add a twist to them ? Just what goes on in the mind of a Bizarre Magician ??????

Movies, as Doug said. Also I read a lot. I also look at things in my past. Look back into your own life; there are probably things that you have long forgotten (or suppressed) that you can use -- such as when Nyarlathotep used to visit you at night, or when that hag sat on your chest and gnawed the bones of babies.

There are actually a far larger number of Bizarre and Storytelling Magick books than one might first think.
If you watch eBay or call Rich Hatch at HR Magic Books, they can keep a look out for the classic work “Magic and Meaning” by Robert E. Neal and Eugene Burger, this will get all your ducks in a row and provide a reference of bible-like reference for years to come. In fact, any of the books by Robert and/or Eugene will be of great value to you. Once you’ve got a foundation in the this vast magical genre, move on to the bound book of the Invocations, and the works of S. H. Sharpe, Christian Chelman, David Parr, and many of our own Magic Café contributors. I’m sure others will chime in and overwhelm you with other suggested titles as well. This is a difficult but rewarding area of Magic, and one that is easily botched and done badly, or which may be a very memorable and meaningful experience for your spectators. And, because I was one of the authors, the new Devil of a Bar and Pub is a fun way to creep through the door of Bizarre. Magically, Walt |

Then read one/all of Ron Dayton's stuff - not a "trick manual" but a series of "Moods" with effects assigned to them - his work will have you thinking... Beg/bribe Baba for his Voudu book - an entire 'system' for many effects, and an altogether more spiritual read than I expected [still loving it mate!] But I'm waiting for Nov 25 or thereabouts - see Bill's sig!

Older movies didn't have all the special effects of today so they used something called a plot instead..................
