He claims the same stuff on his website, that's it;s all for entertainment. Maybe his posts on this forum should be taken like that as well. I find them pretty fun myself. |

Micheal,
I am taking a bit of a break from this thread because I feel as though I owe some further explanation concerning other topics related to my involvement in the show. Please remember I was brought on board to do what I did on the show. Considering the ongoing fallout I think my act worked well and I can count Criss and Randi with those who have gone too far when interacting with my website and show. I was and am surprised they did. Best Wishes, Jim

Also, Jim remember I'm not attacking you. I'm only voicing my opinion and trying to clear up what is actually being claimed by you. Unlike some, I try my best not do it in an insulting way. I apologize if anything I say is not taken the right way and I wish others (not you) would do the same when they try to put words in my mouth or claim to know what my motives are.

If the part about fungus with shoes was meant as an insult, then why can't you and others voice your opinion without insulting others? I thought we were adults who grew out of that childish behavior. I guess I was wrong though. |

Tony and others....I knew someone would come out and say that ALL magic is lying.
It is not. I'll give you an analogy that explains the difference. When you go see a movie or even a play, you may see special effect, unrealistic plot lines, fantastic characters, etc. In other words, things that aren't true or real. You aren't being lied to because there is a previous understanding that what you are seeing (and paying for) is a work of fiction. HOWEVER, if a movie advertised itself as a TRUE story, and was NOT - people would be up in arms. That is exactly what Jim did. Simply by calling yourself a magician, you let the audience know that what you do is mere conjuring, sleight of hand trickery. Jim rejects that term and opts for "Paranormalist". In addition to that, he makes unequivocal claims that what he does is the real deal. That is in no way comparable to what a magician does. Of course, this is by design. Jim wants to stand out from his competition and this is how he's chosen to do it. He wants to be different, so he claims he's different. He's thrown out morals in exchange for publicity. He's not the first to do it and he won't be the last. However, it still is not okay in my book and I can't respect the decision, nor can I respect supporting the decision. |

One other thing...
Proving Criss Angel to be wrong, or even a hypocritical jerk does NOT prove Jim Callahan right. Not in any way. I think we can ALL agree that Criss Angel doesn't handle himself well when it comes to this issue. Let's get off it now and stick to the issue at hand. |

I think we should be up in arms about the X games...those stunts are dangerous, look easy, and could cost my children 1000's of dollars in medical bills.

Should comic books that feature characters like Dr. Strange, Dr. Fate, Zatanna, the Juggernaut, the Son of Satan, Ghost Rider, Wonder Woman, Clea, Thor, etc. all put in disclaimers as well?

This has been a really entertaining ride. But outside this community do the public really care?
Has this made any difference? Or will the whole thing slide back into obscurity if it hasn't already? |

Johne, while those issues are deserving of attention...this board is not really the place, would you agree?
Regarding Blair Witch, Exorcism of Emily Rose, etc. They did utilize ambiguous language as part of their marketing, but I don't ever remember them making unequivocal claims. If they did, let me know and we'll address the specific claims. I'm willing to bet that if there are claims, they left themselves wiggle room. Jim does not. |

The program contained "interviews" with friends and relatives of the missing students, paranormal experts, and local historians. This was done so extensively that the three main actors were listed for a time as "missing, presumed dead" on IMDb.[4] |
