I just remembered a trick from my youth. It involves putting a signed coin in your pocket, then you take out a matchbox that is secured with rubber bands. You open the box, and there is a little velvet bag also secured with rubber bands. The signed coin is inside the bag. I remember the gimmick.
I'd like to pick this up again, but I don't know what to search for. |

They got rid of the matchbox when matchboxes sort of went out of style, but the rest of the trick is the same. Go to this site and scroll down to the "Jiffy Coin Trick" and the one beneath it "The Magic Coin Box" which still uses cardboard boxes, but with no evidence they ever held matches. While you're at it, take a nostalgic trip down memory lane looking at the other tricks from your youth you may recognize.

You missed the time when match boxes were actually very difficult to find, which is why I said they "sort of went out of style." Sometimes things go out of style, and the next day come back in style. Right now, matchbooks are out of style. Lighters that use lighter fluid are out of style right now. That doesn't mean they are extinct or will not come back into style. The S.S. Adams company isn't taking any chances and now sells the match-style boxes with a cute little rabbit and hat on them. Go figure.
