Now that Matt has told us that you are a successful magician I go back to my original statement welcome to the magic Café.

I do not believe Matt was being serious, Al. It is called "British Humour."

I'm the hiphopapotamus, my rhymes are bottomless, sounds a little preposterous, spewing from my esophagus.
But, my ryhmes are so potent that during this small segment, I've made all the women in the last three threads pregnant. |

If Matt is being serious, and you are one of the busiest children's entertainers in England, why is your occupation listed as barman? Mind you, a couple of neat Scotches my well help you through the party!

Honestly? I didn't want to acknowledge myself as a full time entertainer, Barman was my job previous to going full time.
I wouldn't say I was the busiest in England, but I make a good living out of it. Fauna

TOM! Sod off you old badger of a red-cap! Leave the boy in peace! You'll have to excuse Tom, Fauna, he seems to think that the English Empire rests in his "talons" as it were!
Now I do wonder this, young man, do you have a website we might peruse? Surely a busy young man as yourself must have a website to market with! Tom, turn off that bloody computer and get back to folding the laundry, you blighter! Now, marketing such a program WITHOUT being a reputable entertainer of means..that story I'd like to verify before anymore may be said..anyone with the information? With Love, Delores |

I do have a website, but for reasons I do not wish to go into, I would prefer to keep a level of anonimity on these boards, it's a personal thing and I can assure you, will not affect the quality of my postings.
Many thanks for your interest and support though. Fauna

Smart thing to do here, mind you, Fauna! Tom does the same, you've no idea how many emails we receive from here asking what our site is! Fact is, we only market to a small area here in London and the surrounding areas..no chance finding us out mulling around Plymouth or Oxford, simply won't happen at our age!
Tom's well off to bed now and I must tell you that in fact I wonder about him even doing the shows this coming week-end! His joints are positively KILLING him with trying to do all the motions and twisting about to get the laughs with that blasted "silken saga" gadget of his! However, with the rabbit appearing and dissappearing it's quite the treat for the little ones as it were! What types of magic do you do or prefere? Do you do puppets as well? Our programme hasn't changed since the early 80's I'm afraid...however it still goes over and people keep buying it. Have a Blessed Night! Delores |

OK since we are all warm and fuzzy here I will give you the real P.T, Barnum quote "there is a sucker born every minute" Mr. Barnum was a famous con man, and with Mr. Bailey started the Barnum & Bailey circus.

For a con, the site looks pretty clean, organized and professional.
Sounds like a bargain for a beginner too. Reminds me a little bit of the thread over on the table hoppers area about exposing a trick for money being unethical. |

Seems my funny pictures keep "poofing"!
Well, here I am, warts and all, as they say! Thank goodness, no warts, though! I'd like to see this "salesmans" website for shows and lots of references before I'd spend a farthing on those goods. What if it's just a bunch of re-done bits from odd books and such? Scandalous! Delores |

Mike Clarke's a nice guy, and a friend. I've known him for a while. I have another one of his products (which is not available to the general public yet).
I like his approach to selling, in that he doesn't sell with hype, and he is virtually telling certain people not to buy it (he cautions your expectations of the product if you have been professional for a while). He wants to make sure it's the right fit for you. I urge you not to buy it if you have reservations. Even though I'm a long-time pro, I am going to buy the product, simply so I can find out Mike's take on certain business / performing approaches. I'm not expecting anything earth-shattering, but I am expecting to learn a few ideas, and learn more about his approach to things. From my experience with Mike, he's a busy professional who has it "together". - Donald

His approach is very Internet Marketing style.
His copywriting writing techniques is very similar to how other Internet Marketing gurus would write. The only problem is that he lacks credentials for his words, no testimonials, etc. Something that I will not be convinced of. |

While we're on a "sayings" kick, another comes to mind. "Those that can...do, those that can't...teach."

There are many ways to approach looking at this. He has clearly said that this is for the beginner, and that the experienced might not find what they are looking for.
However, no one (who has commented on this thread) has heard of this performer, except for me. No one has seen his show, and no one knows how busy he is or is not (how he handles his business). No one has seen this product, as this ad is for a pre-release offer. And it's true, there are no (birthday course) customer testimonials on the website yet. So there is no evidence one way or the other whether this product is good or bad, or whether he has something worthwhile to share or not. Based on that, you can choose to be open-minded or close-minded. I choose to be open-minded. He has been a member of the Café and other forums I frequent. I've also interacted with him through PMs and through e-mails. He's even given me gifts and thanks for help I've given him (not expected, but appreciated.) He acted like a friend when I went through a bit of a tough time in my personal life. Although I've never met him face-to-face, he's built up a friendship with me over time, and I trust him. The first I heard of this product, was when the link was posted on this thread. He had not told me about it. Because it is someone I have personally known for a long time, I think it might be interesting to learn more about him and his business. That's just me. He has a proven track record with me, and I know him. Because of my positive expectations, I doubt I'll be disappointed. That's all I am saying. I am choosing to "buy", and was not "sold to" against my personal convictions. I am not trying to change anyone else's mind. "Those convinced against their will, are of the same opinion still." BTW, I've had a different "friend" who has ripped me off before. I paid that person for a product that was never delivered, nor was my money ever refunded (4 years ago). That's called fraud. Even though I have been burned before, I still choose to trust, and be open-minded. - Donald P.S. This is not the first time someone has talked of releasing a beginners birthday course for entertainers. Todd75 has a different thread on the topic, here on the Café, when he was considering doing such a thing.

Todd75 is a serious performer with a great reputation here at the magic Café. This other fellow, although you say is a member of the magic Café is totally unknown to everybody but you. Let this fellow step forward to show us what this no talent required course consists of, and we shall see for ourselves.
