Hey if they have the money to waste on this - good for them. Personally I don't see wasting $15,000 - $20,000 or more to prove something I wrote on a blog was right. I doubt you would see anyone here say they are willing to spend that kind of money to defend what they said on The Magic Café. I tell you what - if I find myself at the business end of a lawsuit again because of something I wrote, I will contact you and ask you if you're willing to represent me pro bono.
Getting back to the original subject of this thread. I've stated previously that I don't agree with a boycott. I see these things pop up from time-to-time and they never go anywhere. Yes - support the creators! But don't deceive yourself into thinking that creators aren't in the same business as magic shops and that is to sell secrets and make money. The bottom line is this - you don't have to prove your skill level or knowledge to anyone to buy magic products. Every now and then you'll find a reputable store owner like Denny Haney who will steer a beginner to something more appropriate for their knowledge and skill level. But Denny is a magic shop owner, so those of you boycotting the shops will never know the level of support you get from someone like Denny. |
