I though you guys might find this an interesting read....I found it odd...since she is still on the show that she would give such and interview...But I guess the voting was long over by the time she gave this so there would be no real outcome of it in the results. Basically the show is done as far as competition goes. As many of you might know the performance she did went wrong...several ways. The first necklace was suppose to swing and the second one was suppose to untie and drop off in her hand. Neither did either....WHOOPS! |

I suspected as much from several of the contestants. I cheer for the performers going on with the show. So much for the producers promising to showcase them in there best light.

Not trying to bust Angela or anything, but didn't Jim say that contestants weren't supposed to do interviews while they were still on the show?
Of course I suppose voting is over by now. Jonathan |

Yeah that's what I was saying Jonathan....I think the interview is a neutral thing at this point....maybe.

Angela's interview bears out exactly what I mentioned on another thread, about the performers' "hands being tied". There is a strict format and stringent rules in network television, not to mention the contractual binds we don't even know about. Jim C. answered that HIS hands weren't tied... to which I agreed, since Jim refused to follow the rules. -And I mean that in an admirable way:

Angela and the other performers have shown great equanimity under phenomenal pressures live as well as off camera and in show development. Thank you for being performance teachers and best of good fortune to all...we look forward to seeing you this Wednesday night as millions of other viewers, inner and outer beings, again tune in.

From the interview: “It really tested my ability to think on my feet and act like nothing had happened.”
Well that was exactly what she did wrong. She just went on to the next thing with no acknowledgment that the effect had failed. It made me think it was part of the routine, like finding the wrong card, but the right card is revealed later. I was expecting the correct birthstone to show up in the photo. Once the effect failed, she should have given a big smile and said that was the problem with mentalism, it's not an exact science, so it can't be relied on like a simple magic trick. Then move to the next thing. I also have to say, I have just not been very taken by her in these shows. By all accounts she is very talented, but in this context she has been very stiff and awkward in every single performance. The same can be said for several of the others though, so there must be something inherent in how the show is prepared that takes the performers out of their comfort zone. |

What I took from that is the producers from NBC were trying to tell them what good mentalism should look like. No wonder the show is not that good (that is putting it nice)
I think under the stress and change these guys were put under they have done a good job. It is to bad that NBC wouldnt allow us to see what they all could really do. |

Sounds like the performers are banding together to protect themselves from the producers, but it isn't working too well.

Angela refers to "Illusions" in the article. I thought that this was supposed to be the bygosh real deal! (And the producers did not want magicians.)
FWIW Cheers!

That certainly explains why some of them did not look entirely comfortable in their performances. I still contend that Uri Geller is the show's biggest weakness and it's too bad he can't be voted off.

I never liked that he presented himself as the real deal. I still don't respect that. But, in the context of this show, I think he has come across as very gracious and even endearing. At first I thought he was TOO nice, but he as evened out. He is still a phoney, but at least he is a gentleman. |

I was just reading some of the fantastic stuff he pulled off..Amazing really. I knew very little of him until Jim started the Have you thanked Uri Geller thread. Lot's of people have been amazed over the decades!
I wasn't sure that contestants still in the show were allowed to do interviews. Jim wasn't. I think it only fair that they all do it...but I don't own NBC
