Mathew, thanks for the great links!
When Jay released prodcuts and put a demo performance, I bought them. Wehn he did these jumping, shakey, crazy demos, I passed.

I don't know how he gets away with things like this.
I once asked him for advice about releasing products and he said he couldn't help because the market is 'over saturated' - without a hint of irony. You're welcome for the links though! |

I'm not really feeling Spookey just for the fact that it seems very obvious but maybe that's just a magicians perspective

I thought Final Fusion looked the best in the way of visualness...
Spookey is not that good in my opinion, well from the demo anyway, but I also wouldn't wanna use an item of my own for linking effects... Hemespheres was the one I was most interested in, though from the looks of things the effects look a tad... well... meh I will probably get Hemespheres though because I enjoy watching Sankeys DVD's... though it's a shame he's toned down a bit since Rev Coin & Card magic |

Ugh. This stuff is just bad...
'Spookey'- Obvious method, TERRIBLE performance- no grace, elegance, or real magic moment. Just jerky, confusing hand movements coupled with an awfully suspicious looking 'handling' of one of the keys. Wow. Is this for real? Linking 'rings' made out of my thumb and forefinger looks more convincing. Brutal. Hemisphere- Looks like new handlings of old bits- though no routines were actually shown in the demo(could it even be called a demo?),I think I recognized a few tricks from his other mentalism discs, but with different props. Ho hum. Final Fusion- Sorry guys, this is dumb. Nuff said. |

Hemisphere and spookey look terrible, but Final Fusion looks ok. This has been a pretty bad year for Sankey with the exception of Wrap it Up!...hopefully Rev Coin Magic 2.0 will be good

I have to agree with Jaws -- I thought "Final Fusion" looked appalling as a marketed effect. I mean, yeah, if you are watching a quick video montage then I can see how you can momentarily think that it looks cool. But if you stop for a second, think about what you know you get and then whether any spectator is going to be fooled at all, that's another story.

I ordered Hemisphere's and it is already on its way to me. I ordered it before I saw the demo, which I thought was quite terrible too! I much prefered it when Jay showed one effect from his dvd or just talked about his dvds rather than showing a series of clips of nothing particularly interesting!!
However I did order this dvd because of the fabulous recommendation it got from James Biss, and a few of the effects he described sounded amazing and exactly what I was looking for! And I'm not a big fan of the new acid jazz (?) music he is using in his dvds now!! But that being said I am a big Sankey fan. My all time top 2 effects are Sankey effects! Final Fusion didn't really do anything for me either. But I do like the way Jay shows the effect in full so you don't have to wade through masses of hype. Perhaps in the right hands and for laypeople this might be quite cool, or maybe as a throwaway effect. But for me, it didn't really make me go wow! all the best dan

It all looks very dissapointing to me....
I think Rev Coin Magic 2.0 will make up for it all though but then again, I thought England would qualify....... |

I think the problem is that he believes his own hype. Either that or he’s cynical to the bone.
I’m risking an almost suicidal comparison here, but something that I’ve encountered (personally, and as a spectator) when new products are released is the following: Does it actually warrant a release? This is of course a matter of taste, and some will argue anything is ‘good’ in the right hands. I personally think his early tricks were really good, I own a couple, and one of his books. Since his ‘re-launch’ most of his releases have been questionable. On one of his later DVD’s he says something to the effect of “I hope you didn’t buy this for magician-fooling tricks”. This in and of itself is probably fair, but there’s something about it that seems ‘telling’. |

I really liked a lot of Sankey's older videos and effects. Seeing them rehashed on separate DVD's...not so much. These demos did not really impress me much, especially Final Fusion. The card fused onto the box...now what?

It really is a shame, I am a big fan of Jay, but these just seem like stinkers. I was really looking forward to something better than "Three Ring Circus" with keys. Final Fusion? Hmmm what is the point? As Daryl says "So Far, So What". I had high hopes for hemispheres, but looks like some stuff I already have on Boris Pocus and 22 Blows to the Head. I saw Jay perform XL at a lecture over the summer and it looked pretty cool, I bought it and was very disappointed at the crappy quality of the gimmick. I hate to disrespect the guy, I regularly do a bunch of his stuff, the older stuff that is...
