Hello -
after performing "Three to one rope" (Daryl) I have one single rope in the colors blue/white/red. Now I want to perform two or three other effects with this one rope. First is: "Rope through neck", but what else is possible. I don't like to take another item such as a ring or another rope - it should only be this one rope! No "Cut and restored rope" - routine, because I just make one rope out of three. Merlin described years ago in his notes some great effects with knots (e.g. take away and throw back), but I just took two knots away. So it must be something different. Do you have any idea for a strong effect with this one rope (where the different colors are not a problem)? Thank you! Angelo |

You could try catching a chosen card with the rope (see Tabary's book).

The Dennis Loomis knot routine plus is about 5 minutes long and only uses one piece of rope.

Angelo,
The Dennis Loomis Knot Routine is definitely your best bet to make the most of a single length of rope. Buy the DVD direct from Dennis: https://loomismagic.com/item5545.htm It is worth every penny! Andy

There are lots of things you can do with knots that jump around, come off the rope and go back on - Daryl has a few on his DVD set. You can also do the endless loop thing, and make a knot appear in the loop as Roland Henning does. There are also other penetrations, e.g. rope through spectator's finger.

I like to do one handed knot on rope, and I do the silk on rope. So, I combined the moves to do a one-handed silk on rope.
I just knocked out a 15 second video to show it. http://usmagic.biz/000_0001.html Fairly simple as you will see. Getting the silk on there secretly is the key. (1.5 mb flash file). The move is from one of my old lectures.

I love it Ian, as I do all your creations! Great transition from rope magic to silk magic too.
Thanks for sharing. Andy

Thank you everybody - a very good idea came from Larry Barnowsky, "rope escape". I like it because after performing "Three to one rope" with the vanishing of the knots and then "Rope through neck" it is a complete different theme.
Please, can anyone tell me the name and/or source of a truly baffling rope escape - with this one rope performable? Thank you! Angelo |

I think an escape done with a rope after you have just cut, restored, or whatever with it, is counter-productive. You are telling people that you are able to escape because of the magic rope.
It is two forms of presentation, and if mixed, it will be too much rope.

Ian is correct. It would be pointless, especially after doing "rope thru neck",
but if you insist: The Kellar Rope Tie in Vol. 6, Page 314 of Tarbell. Andy

Flip has some other rope penetrations, other than through the neck, he has through the leg, thumb and a couple of the through the neck.

Ian, thank you, you are correct!
Andre, thank you, too! Therefore my question still exists: What else to do - what short strong effect - after "Three to one rope" and "Rope through neck" with this one rope in three colors. No knots, no kind of penetration, no cut - no other items as string, silk or card. I think there remains nothing else. Or does somebody have an idea? |

Well there are only transpositions: perhaps ending with a rope to cane.
There are comdey effects where you can have the rope stay stiff in the air.

Rope to snake?
But that involves another prop (i.e. snake). I think you have set impossible conditions.
