Hehehe nice guys. I was being nice when I posted the 3 or 4. lol Like you, I also fall victum of having way more stuff that I have not even opened yet. The point I was trying to make is that often times we search for new things and buy new things when in reality, we really do not need to BUY more magic. We need to go to that drwer and learn to be creative with what we already have and own ourselves. =)

I've fallen victim to that plague too. But now that I can focus on just buying kid show stuff, it won't be as bad for me.

I think it is a natural thing to want to buy more magic. Afterall it is like a kind in a candy store. We have a passion for seeing things we like and wanting to buy stuff that wows us or just looks cool. I have had to really work at trying not to buy effects just for the sake of buying them. I am still learning. hehehe

However, I try and search for things I know can go into my show or a show I am writing or creating. This way it gives me a reason to purchase and I know that I have a place for it in my show. However, most of the stuff that is in my drawer now is stuff that will be used but I refuse to place anything into the show until I have created a routine that fits my wife and I and our style.

the magic has to be just right and I refuse to perform anything like everybody else. I throw the directions away after I learn a trick so that I am not influenced by patter they tell me to use. I like to work at being more creative so it fits who we are as performers.

I also try and not rush the creation of a routine just because I am so easger to perform it. I take my time working it out and then when I feel it is pretty good, I can add it into a show and then guage reactions and fine tune from there.

Currently I am pretty good at buying what I will use, but I have a large room full of magic props that aren't used.
