While looking around in the book store today I found
a rather unusual deck of Tarot cards. The name...Necronomicon Tarot
just seemed to catch my eye. Looking at this deck opens a door of great
possiblities with its AWESOME art work. Now I know I'm not the first
to buy this deck, but I thought I would give you a heads up on it. I
do not own a more rich deck than this one. (Speaking of art of course!)
Until now the Crowely Deck held that spot. If you are looking for
a darker tarot deck, one that might just give the sitter the willies,
this is the one! I am not a seller of these cards, I just thought if you
do any magick that uses H.P. Lovecraft in it, you might want to search on this deck!

Awesome, I have been considering getting a set just because they have such great imagery. As Borat says, "very nice!"

I have them; they remind me more of the COC trading cards than tarot cards. I was more than a little disappointed.

This version is Donald Tyson's version. The art work is by Anne Stokes.
I would love to see Giger's version! I have a passion for these decks.
I'm just starting a collection at this time.

Hang on to your hats! The Necronomicon Tarot has not been received well among the tarot community. However the soon to be released Bohemian Gothic Tarot is getting a lot of buzz and is a popular preorder on Amazon.

Another Popular dark tarot deck which is available now is The Archeon Tarot by Timothy Lantz.

These are all interesting, but some of the symbolism seems to get lost. Perhaps I am missing something, but some of them seem to be difficult to relate to more traditional interpretations. I see this as regrettable as much as I enjoy the artwork.

I haven't seen the Giger version, but I am very much a fan of H. R. Giger's art. I expect that my comment does not apply to the Giger deck.

Remember, tarot cards can be used for effect as well as readings. Not that I would do both on the same night for the same crowd. Certain decks might theme themselves better to other effects you are doing. I was just suggesting that if
a person were to do effects from Minch's Lovecraftian Ceremonies they might
find this deck matching to their magick.

I don't disagree, Magicman.  Still, I would like to see the traditional symbolism somehow retained.Bill

Me too, but I find it a bit confusing for the audience to use in an effect.
The tarot cards I use the most (except for my own Chelman Tarot) are "le tarot de Kebek", le tarot de Marseille (original edition)in Prophecy and other effects, "l'Oracle des Dames" (in Oracle), "le Petit Lenormand" (an early XXth century edition) in an effect called St Valentin's Diamond, a XIXth century edition of "le Grand Etteila" in IRMA, "le Tarot de Dürer" (by Scarabeo d'Oro) in a Renaissance Fair effect (the original edition, not the latter).

Curator,
You have some absolute fantastic decks to choose from. It would take me hours to decide which to use!

For actual readings, I'm fond of either the Osho Zen deck (for corporate events), or the Cosmic Tribe deck (for faires or private readings).
