I have been doing shows as "Thad S. Gross" and they have been pretty successful, but I am looking for more ideas. I have the Geek Magic DVD, any other ideas that DON'T involve blood?

Docc Hilford had a tape showing a routine with realistic plastic houseflies going up your nose, down your sleeve and into your hand ... wonderful! Don't recall the name ... something to do with "Renfield"

How about animating a gummy worm with some I.T. and then eating it? For realism, use a styrofoam container like those that you get at a bait shop - marked "night crawlers" pull the worm out of the dirt (crushed oreo cookies) for an added eeewww factor.
Swallowing a live goldfish? (a carrot shaped life a gold fish...) Oh, and cooked rice look amazingly like maggots. Lyndel |

Ross, Thanks, I looked it up, it is on "The Weerdist On Stage Vol 2", sounds fun, I think I will buy it.
Lyndel, I like the animated worm idea, but these kids will eat me alive if they sense what it is, and the lighting is often not good for IT. |

Are you talking about stage or close-up? Bob |

Try the "Aerial Fishing" and eat the goldfish like Mac King. I did it before and it works surefire for kids all the time. I don't do it now because I don't want to care for goldfishes.
Yes 8 to 13 year olds behave different from smaller kids. They want to be treated like adults. Geek magic works well for them. I also do balloon swallowing for them. Arm chopper and needle thru arm are also great.

Bob,
At present, just BP, not stage. That will change too (hopefully). Lou, I feel stupid, but I am not sure what "Aerial Fishing" is. I has seen Matt King swallow a glass with a goldfish . . . Can you elaborate or point me in the right direction? Right now I do balloon swallowing and needle through the arm (actually use my neck like in the trick "SAW" and a arm chopper. The arm chopper is the weakest, but perhaps that is me. I have also trained a dove to play dead, and I eat the head - then replace it and the dove comes to life. Parents find that very gross. They also like the "arm twist" followed by a short "finger fantasy". I have "gut buster" and like it, but it is too dependent on an assistant (the child's farther usually). Cutting in half works well. The hard part is balancing the show, because if the kids suspect how it is done, they WILL announce it to the world. They give you no slack at all. Even a negative slack. I started using a very expensive fake blood, but it did not get much reaction because they knew it was fake. I cut it from the show along with a "faith healing". |

Aerial fishing is catching fish in mid-air with a fishing pole. I bought mine before from Hocus-pocus.com. I don't think they have it in stock anymore.
For the arm chopper bit, you could refer to the DVD of the Dynamic Duo in Steve Marrota's presentation. But my armchopper is with a visible samurai sword which I created myself. It looks deadly. How about doing the Jumbo Rising Cards? That works well for me because I have the Jumbo cards and case examined before and after the rise. That, too, is my own version. I also do the Bisection and Head Rush. The teens enjoy that.
