Vent living legend Bill DeMar says we need to have a VERY STRONG
CLOSER in our performances. It's the last thing that our audience will
see from us, so it should be a killer.

In the past I have tried various closers: Double voice, drinking bit,
and just a very strong LOL joke.

In the past few months, though, I have been closing ALL my shows--for
kids and adults--with my EGG BAG VENT ROUTINE, which can run around
8-10 minutes. I'm using a Malini egg bag and an egg. In the routine
I created, I taught the egg (which I named Egay) how to talk, jump,
and make himself disappear. In the finale I use a female assistant
from the audience. It has proven time and again to be a sure-fire killer and jaw-dropper!

So how do you close your shows?

Currently I'm using a double mask routine. Draws big laughs and lots of applause for the two volunteers as they return to their seats and I close the show. I'm not too proud to ride out on their ovation.

BTW - Ony & Wanlu - I decided to keep Deeder (the McRay Bighead). A good friend advised me it will be hard to get another. I'm planning on putting him in my show - he was meant to be used.

Hi Tom,

If I can afford Deeder, he would have been part of my show Smile Its nice to know that Deeder is performing as part of your act again Smile Im a big fan of your work Smile

Anyway...for my Ventrillusion Act...I close the Vent part with Nicolo (Poyner) singing a song Smile but the act is closed with the Modern Art Illusion Smileand a throw streamer before I exit Smile

It's nice to hear Deeder is still with you, and now about to WORK again! It's a great figure. I'd love to see you with him in action again.
The masks are great closers and I know that you, Tom, are using them very well!

I close with a game show routine. I bring a couple of audience members onstage, a kid and a grown-up. Then Henry, my figure, asks them a series of questions.

Henry: (To the kid) What color... is your favorite?
Kid: Red.
Henry: THAT is CORRECT! Very good!
Now (to grown-up).. What color... indicates the presence of helium
in the spectral analysis of distant stars?
Grown-up: Uhhh..
Henry: BUUUHHZZZ (buzzer noise) THAT is INCORRECT! (aside to me) One of these days we're going to get a rocket scientist up here and YOU are going to look really stupid.

Anyway, it goes on like this for three questions each, the kid wins easily of course, they both get prizes (the grown-up gets a sucker), applause for them and a final bow for myself and Henry.

That sounds like great fun! Always nice to end with a kid from the audience looking like a star!

I love the game show idea! Jazz it up with some Game Show music and away you go!

I used to close with the Vanishing Bandana, but I want the audience to remember the vent so I switched to using Horton and closing with a song (how is that for a vent cliche)

Do you mind if I borrow that idea, or adapt it?
