I purchased my friend Ian's "Professor Ian's nightmare", which I like very much, but if you buy his DVD (not the download) you will also get his "Loops" which I thought was a very cool trick. but I've been a thinkin' about loops, and the more I think about it the more I realize it does the same thing as "Knot unexpected" without the special k****. Lots of people rave about "Knot unexpected" but Ian's "Loops" does it with a very simple homemade gimmick. I am performing both of Ian's tricks next Monday night at the IBM RING-6 stage competition. I don't think anyone there has ever seen Ian's tricks before, so we will see.
STAY TUNED

Hero worshipers should take a look at Ian's inventor's credits in my Brief Biography of Magic Inventors. You have to look him up under his stage name "Magic Ian."

Hey spellbinder, thanks for that...You forgot to add that I am a "legend in my own mind", and very modest.
If I do have a fanbase, you might want to read my blog:

with some interesting chronicles of who I have rubbed elbows with, and some experiences on the road years ago. Specifically any text marker odyssey.

I guess you saw the video post on my site? I have been doing that in the lecture since the early 80's. The newest effect is a derivation of that effect. I am almost ready to make the DVD of the complete effect that starts with sm, med, long, then has three equal lengths that can be shown as three separate long ropes, then one of those is vanished leaving you with two that visibly change to three equal length again, then I go into linking ropes (optional) or just restore them back to sm, med, long using the flash restoration.

I competed last night at the IBM ring 6 stage competition. My performance could have been cleaner, but I did come in third. The real reason why I wanted to compete was because I wanted to try out the two new tricks I learned from my new best friend Ian Sutz. When I did professor Ian's nightmare every jaw in the room dropped even the seasoned pro's came up to me to find out how I did this great new trick, and believe me, fooling Dick Gustafsen, and Bob Little was a thrill for me.
THANKS Ian. The best $10 I ever spent.

Never mind my stuff, I have been watching the Tabary routine and then saw this guy do it under impossible condition.

Ian thank you for sharing that clip.
Smoothini is my new hero too. He did that great routine for a room full of drunken Marines. It reminded me of a cub scout banquet. I think it is time for me to learn to perform Tabary.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Of course I am discovering some older classical performers who are on my top list as well.
David nixon for instance:

That video clip was a four part segment on heroes of magic. You might want to scope the rest and see where we all came from. Especially enamoured of Fred Kapps who I only thought to be the Kapps Kash guy, and I never saw his stage manipulation.

I have done this for years, just playing around doing the normal PN. Someone said to slow it down a bit, so I do the stretch and restoration in slow motion.

Magic Ian has many things to his credit. Yes he is creative; but more importantly he is genuine and nice. I think it is wonderful, the way he share his creations with us via youtube. That proves he is clever at marketing himself as well.

No Ron, I am just an egomaniac craving attention all the time. The Youtube and other sites are, however, a great marketing tool but also a superb sounding board. I put raw routines out as well as proven ones. The feedback and input is invaluable just as the Magic Café is as well.
I use Magicvideodepot.com to get direct comments from magicians and their feedback tells me if I am on track.
The Café input tells me that I am in step or out of line on originality and technical aspects.
My Dances with ropes was a direct connection from the members at the Café. Of course, I had bits and pieces in my arsenal for years as well as lecture items, but the response I had gotten during October thru January led to the DVD creation.
I would like to see a complete Kotah routine on youtube some time. That would be a great promo for Awakenings.
My Dances with ropes is still growing, each month I add to the routine (and I update the previous buyers with the new segments). As each magician does this effect, I get feedback and hone it down even sharper.

Kotah and Ian...Two unbelievably creative minds. Pity one is in Wisconsin and the other in Florida. No telling what a brainstorming session between you two would bring to light.
