Four years after retiring, illusionists Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn say they may just reappear.

Siegfried (left) and Roy say their act could make a return to the Vegas stage.

The German-born performers' long-running "Siegfried & Roy" production ended in October 2003 when Horn was critically injured on stage by a tiger.

"A good magician never lets the cat out of the bag," Horn told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Friday for a story about the pair's possible return to show business. "Act surprised when you hear about it."

The tiger sank its teeth into Horn's neck and dragged him off stage in front of a horrified audience at The Mirage, ending one of the most successful casino shows in Las Vegas history.

Siegfried, 68, said retirement has had its hurdles.

"The stage is my life. It took some adjustment. I was really not ready for it," he said.

Siegfried said he marvels at Horn's dedication to his recovery regimen, which includes daily rehabilitation and trips to a gym three times a week, including games of racquetball.

"It cheers me up," Siegfried told the newspaper. "All the doctors say what he's doing now is impossible. I've always said, 'I am the magician and Roy is the magic.' And Roy shows me every day the magic -- the magic of life."

Horn, 63, gets a boost from visits to his family of animals at The Mirage, including Montecore, the white tiger that attacked him.

Horn and Siegfried remain convinced that Montecore sensed Horn was having a mini-stroke and was dragging him to safety, rather than attacking him.
Kind Regards

I'm glad to see that this is not the kibbles and bits story about them.

I truly think a good fit for them at this point in their life would be a smaller, more intimate show. As they slow down, it would be easy for a big show to look like it was happening around them. I think a show lower on the spectacle scale, like Mark Kalin and Jinger's current production, showcasing sleight of hand, some mentalism and illusions would suit them well. Maybe a concept-show. The Pendragons have made a similar transition and it works beautifully.

As entertainers get older, the rules change a little bit. Here's a quote from Rod Stewart that applies:

"There's not many songwriters at my age still trying to release albums of their own music, and I'm not planning on it myself. Paul Simon, Elton John, the Rolling Stones have all penned their new records, and all the critics loved them, but they just didn't sell. When you get too old, people don't want to play your songs on the radio, so you have to go about it in a different way ... I love doing these concept records. Love it. There's not many like me."

Your thoughts?

I agree 100%. I would agree 110%, but that's not possible, no matter what others may say.

I have never been fortunate enough to see their big Vegas show live. So I say, for my own benefit, bring back the big show in the hope that one day I might just make it over there to watch it!

It would be great to see them back! I have been Criss Angeled and David Blained to near death!

I am curious as to what casino they would be booked as the Cirque du Soleil Beatles show "Love" (which I desperately want to see) is booked long term at the Mirage.

It would be great to see them on stage again. I had seen their show several times. Once in New York at Radio City Music Hall before they opened at the Mirage and several times in Vegas at the Mirage. I would think that at this time in their lives that they could never duplicate that show again. The show was very intense and physically demanding and with Roy's condition and both of their ages, I would think it very hard to make that kind of come back.

I was in Vegas when Copperfield was first doing his Intimate Evening show at the MGM and I could afford one big show. I remember thinking, "I'll see Copperfiled now because S&R will always be at the Mirage so I'll have plenty of opportunities to see them."

I ended up seeing the Copperfield show three times in different cities, but missed my chance to see S&R. It would be great if they were able to get back into the game and if they make a comeback, I'll be there and not miss my chance again.
