Personally, I have always preferred Grant’s Nu Way OOTW (impromptu and FASDIU), and have recently purchased My Way OOTW by Larry Hass which is his particular handling of Grant’s version. His has an excellent subtlety at the end which negates the need to handle and s*****h packets. Definitely worth checking out the video download! Stay safe.

I recently posted on this in the 'all in the cards' forum. It'd be awesome if you could give your opinion on this, and also whether you think Larry's 'MWOOTW' which you mention offers any improvement in the handling? Thanks, and best wishes to you. Steve |

When responding to resurrected threads, please check the date. As for the Larry Hass version. I like it, from what I can see in the trailer. I also like his newest download "One Card and One Card Only" but I won't spend $20 on two effects when a full DVD has 6 - 10 maybe? or a book with 20 - 50?

Interesting (or sad?) nobody here seems to know about my IMPROMPTU OUT OF THIS WORLD or my OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE. (Or, perhaps just want to keep 'em to themselves?!)

Brent Geris of Magic Apple put out a big 375 page book "Best of all Worlds." It has routines by Harry Lorayne, Michael Weber, Allan Ackerman, Jon Armstrong, Helder Guimarres, Howard Hamberg, Richard Kaufman, Darwin Ortiz, Steinmeyer, Herb Zarrow and many others. It is a gold mine.

I highly recommend it. If you're looking for his "Out of This Universe", it's in his book "Close-Up Card Magic", which I also recommend highly. E-books of both can be found here: http://www.harryloraynemagic.com/store/c2/Magic_e-Books.html . |

Whilst I (to my knowledge) have never been caught with the 'handling' of the packets at the end of the Grant version, it is something I have never been 100% comfortable with due to the amount of misdirection I personally felt I needed to introduce in order to assuage my guilt. The Larry Hass version is identical in it's handling, up until the point of the s****h at the end. Obviously I don't want to give anything away as it is not my secret to share, however, it is such a simple and minor change that it is probably something that has been published elsewhere or you may even have thought of it yourself at some point. The natural 'discrepancy' is still there but the routining and handling means that it only exists for less than a second, under excellent natural misdirection, and is completely erased once the attention is returned to those packets. This handling has now put OOTW back into my regular set. Feel free to PM me if you need any more info. All the best.

Hi there forty six, and thanks for the reply. I went ahead, followed your advice and am delighted with the Hass version. The subtlety at the end is great. Makes me feel way more comfortable and confident performing it. Thanks again mate.

Don't forget the overhand jog shuffle before the second phase. Makes it much stronger IMO.

I really like Cosmos 2 by Greg Rostami. (which also was not available 17 years ago)
He has a certain way to get into it using a gaffed deck. But I prefer to use the impromptu method of Lorayne/Grant. For me Greg's brilliant contribution is eliminating the leader cards (if that is the correct name) - and in particular switching piles half way through. To me that switch has always been a bit suspicious, no matter how you try to justify it. He handles everything in the reveal - which is similar to Galaxy, but better! |

I was talking to Don Buckley recently and he recommended it to me, I found it on Penguin (as well as a couple other sites) and grabbed a copy. I cannot believe this book is not talked about more often (except the fact that it is a book and not a downloadable video). Absolute Gold.
