I have the original CW model. At first I didn't think it would work out as well as it has for me but it's a nice effect. The open gears have never been a problem.
Also I'm fine with mine not having a lid. To me being made of brass is what makes it more convincing. I'd rather have a metal box without a lid then a wooden one with one. It's just a personal opinion but I'm more comfortable with a metallic grinding noise coming from a metal box then a wooden one. |

I have the original Collector's Workshop "Ring Cruncher" and the Wolf's Magic. Each has it's benefits, specific to it. The CW model doesn't automatically load the ring into a little plastic gumball bubble, it just gives access to the ring.

Chance Wolf stated: "Basically the machine has no bottom so once you have made the steal you flip the machine right on top of the capsule resting over it until the next move. What is cool is the sequence of moves that take the capsule in and out of play."
Holy smokes, I don't know how I missed this subtle detail... I'm going to incorporate this idea into my routine. Thanks! The Wolf Ring Grinder has been super helpful with the Ring in Gumball, which has become one of my favorite tricks to perform. The way the lid "snaps" the cap of the capsule into place is ingenious! |

Sounds like the Wolf grinder is the one to go with when performing the Gumball Machine. I'm in the process of buying the Gumball Machine. Is there anyone who can give any insight as the the best one to purchase.

I just acquired one from Chance a few weeks ago that he found from his first run. Also, I just placed an order for a LIMITED GOLD 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION http://www.wolfsmagic.com/A_Ring%20Grinder%202013.htm I don't understand how anyone could be disappointed with this product's retrieval method! What more could you possibly ask for!? It does virtually EVERYTHING but load the capsule into your gumball machine for you! Dumping glitter into a spectator's hand has to be the most powerfully effective form of misdirection possible! If that isn't effective enough, the door itself serves as your second line of defense! I will use this product forever! A pleasure to own and perform with and comes highly recommended!

Thanks for the kind words guys!
I know this has been mentioned before but.... I think what most people overlook with my Ultimate Ring Grinder is two key things that NO OTHER Ring Grinder can do.... #1 - It automatically LOADS the ring into the capsule. This eliminates the HORRIBLE CLICKING SOUND you get in the original routines when the ring is "secretly"loaded into the capsule under a silk...UGH! Plus it is a MUCH SAFER situation for the BORROWED RING as it is safely locked into the capsule from the beginning. No chance of dropping or losing the ring as before. #2 - You CONTROL the clacker sound so it begins SILENT then after a bit, it begins to screw up and start clacking away...then goes back to normal...then clacks again! This builds a LOGICAL reason for WHY it is clacking and creates a nervousness to the audience etc. Remember, this is NOT exclusive to the "Ring in Gumball Machine" effect. You can easily use it for Ring in Nested Boxes with the toy capsule being the last "nesting". as well as any other relocation type effect. Unfortunately I did not take pics of the brushed GOLD Ring Grinder. It was a last minute thought to make 10 Gold units to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. There is NOTHING different about them other than the change in color. I have a couple left and they go back to the standard brushed silver. If you have a serious interest, I will take the time to take a pic and email it to you. Thanks! Chance

I LOVE my Wolf's Magic grinder! Lights, sound, glitter and the safety of the ring being in that bubble. Has anyone tried the "Ring-A-Majig"? Thoughts? Pros? Cons?

If you're nervous about using a ring, I fold up a signed bill, and "clean" it with the grinder, only to have "money confetti" fall out in place of glitter. The bill can be a prize in a gumball machine found later in the routine.

Not a bad idea, Ken! How about folding the ring inside the bill (to "protect" the ring) and have money confetti AND gold chips fall out of the grinder? (This little package would be very easy to handle.)

Good idea Julie. Besides rings, I have bubbles in the machine with bills in them, (some public gumball machines in my area do the same thing). That's what gave me the inspiration for using money instead of a ring. The signed bill "needs" to be cleaned, so the Wolf grinder is the perfect device. Folding the bill up is justified by the size of the Grinder. I absolutely love the prop. Even made up an "instructional phamlet" on how to use the device. I refer back to it every time the machine makes the clacking sound. I hand out the Scotch "Magic" tape to the loaner of the bill, as I check the progress of the "cleaning" during the routine. WHen the money "confetti" falls out of the machine, it gets a big laugh. I offer to pay the loaner of the bill back in installments, one quarter at a time. (to use in the gumball machine) Maybe he can win his money back. Surprisingly he does.

Wolf's product is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and touch and in a league all by itself. Nothing else comes even close in terms of appearance and functionality in my professional opinion. The engineering design is absolutely genius. The spectator's ring is free from harm and safe from the very beginning allowing you to focus solely on your presentation. You have to see one to believe it. Those that already own one know exactly what I am talking about. Invest in this first class original while supplies last. I am not affiliated with Wolf Magic in any way. Just a very satisfied customer. This is a completely unbiased review. |

I was interested in getting one of these, how big can the ring be? I have seen some people with some crazy large rings recently and wasn't sure how large the capsules are. Also Chance if you see this do you still have gold units left in stock?

The capsule is 1" so it is best to look for a woman or an small to average sized man. In my routine I ask all of the women in the audience to raise their hand. I tell them that it makes it much easier to spot the single women Then I select a woman to join me on stage and proceed with the rest of the routine. It is both funny and motivated.

There are many ways to vanish a ring but all methods inherently come with a risk factor still leaving you with the burden of capsuling and snapping the lid shut. As a professional, I prefer to leave nothing to chance (no pun intended) and eliminate all risk factors in my performances. Chance Wolf's Ultimate Ring Grinder is the most practical, dependable, and perhaps the only method I can fathom to achieve this.

I would have to agree with rmendez I have had both and by far Wolf's Ring Grinder is the way to go, at times I am sorry I sold it as well as the gumball machine I had.

Thanks for the great review!
Most people overlook how much depth and comedy this ADDS to a typical Ring in Gumball effect. Not to mention the obvious as to how it near automatically loads the ring into the toy capsule. Definitely one of my favorite creations! I just posted a video demo that shows the basic workings ( not routine) for those of you who may be curious as to its size and function. http://wolfsmagic.com/A_Ring%20Grinder%202013.htm Hoping everyone has a great Christmas and/or Holiday Season!!!
