Actually, I like Paul Harris' version of "Out of this World"---"Galaxy".

It's quicker.

While I am certainly a fan of Bannon, I don't' think that I would classify 'Timely Departure' as . . . self-working . . . .

My thoughts exactly. I debated mentioning this earlier; thanks for doing so.

Harry Lorayne's Out Of This Universe is a variation I've performed with great success.

I think there is a little stretching of the definition; "self working".
Life is a test. It is only a test. If this had been a real life, you would have been given further instructions on where to go, and what to do.

John Bannon's Play It Straight because in addtion to being self-working it has a built in presentation.

AND, when you are done you can strip out the cards and reset.
AND, the setup can be used for other, different tricks.
AND, it can cure the common cold.

My friend Jack Carpenter's A Potent Presage (mentioned earlier by Kex) is a close second, and will destroy anyone who knows the Fulves, Gemini Twins trick.

If packet tricks are included in this I would say Entourage, B'Wave.

Dear Fellow Card Workers,

I like to perform Remote Viewing by Luke Jermay with my own variation as the opener. Simply astonishing and bewildering!

Recently I taught my nephew a simple mental card trick involving Glimpse and a Key Card. Then he came back to me, feeling discouraged and said that the heckler messed up his performance. Well, he is very young and not good at audience management or Double Lift.

What is your Favorite Self-Working Card Trick (with normal cards) that may allow the spectator to do the following condition?

- The spectator can shuffle the deck
- The spectator can cut the deck
- The spectator can freely choose any card
- The spectator may/may not necessary to return the card to any location in the deck
- The spectator may/may not necessary to reshuffle the deck if he wants

At first, I thought I can teach 2 simple tricks called, Spectator Cuts the Aces and The Whispering Queens. However, I believe all card workers at Magic Café who are more knowledgeable, can recommend your Favorite Self-Working Card Trick with normal cards to me. It also can be a Mentalism effect.

Thank you for your advice in this matter.

Regards,
Sam

Paul Harris' Overkill....Great effect...

Outstanding effect, And recently 2 4 2 from The Talk About Tricks DVD set. I cant remember who did I think Rich Vollmer but don't quote me on that.

2 4 2 is by Richard Vollmer; you are correct!

Richard Vollmer, the guy responsible for "Unearthly Powers," has a couple cool effects in BoF III.

It's a deeply flawed trick from a psychological point of view.

With regard to Gemini Twins, check out Supra Gemini in Antinomy Issue 11, just out. John Guastaferro has modified the presentation, and it is killer.

Don't know if it needs a separate forum, but I am interested in SamChak's question as to which of these allow inspection. I am usually torn between self-working vs. inspectable, and generally prefer inspectable.
Also known, when doing rope magic, as "Cordini"

Lorayne's "Impromptu Out of This World".

Terrific, never fails to get great reactions. Can be a borrowed deck, spec can shuffle legitimately before the trick.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Giobbi's "Insured Prediction" from Card College 5 is a killer self-working card effect.

B'Wave and Steinmeyer's Nine Card Trick (from Impuzzibilities)

I like doing the Nine Card Trick with two audience participants, preferably
a couple ... and I use the second person to pick the "one card" that will
(when spelled) find their mate's card.
