My order is in. This is one of the best things I've seen in years! Peter, surely this will prove to be your greatest release to date? WOW!
I'm only baffled why you say this is for kids 10 years+....I think it will play for ALL ages, though the very small ones might be a bit scared....all depends on the presentation. This is lovely, it's not so much the workings that are clever, but the concept. Who won't LOVE watching this? Well, this is my Christmas present to myself this year, and I'm absolutely brimming with excitement having watched the video. Truly a masterpiece, Peter, absoultely awesome! $500 = fantastic value! I'll save the rest of the superlatives for when I have it in my hands. |

Personally, I cant wait. It really is one of the most entertaining props Ive seen this year.
Peter, does it make much noise? Can it be done close-up? Chris |

Id think more "stand-up" obviously you don't want them looking into the box

Hey Doug thanks for the order, praise and the support. I know my ad graphic is a bit confusing but the 10 yrs and up statement is just there to look like an authentic comic book ad from the 50s. You are right in thinking that this is for all ages, it certainly is. Thank you again and if you have any questions about your order please feel free to contact me.
Hey Tophie, it doesn't talk because of how the electronics are housed, the way they operate, and because of the natural noise the prop will make as it animates during these sequences. It can be done close up but yeah you can't let them see too deep into the box obviously. They can see in a bit just not alot. And also if you want like I have in my routine, the box tilts foward slightly, as a card comes up, and it lets them see just enough inside to get their eyebrows moving like they might actually get to see a real live gremlin, but not enough at the same time to reveal anything, you get peoples eyes starting to bug out when it does this, and then the card comes up, and then that blows them away. And ofcourse they never get to see the gremlins. I might also add that since everything is contained with in the box, this can be done surrounded. The flap or lid however will block the view from people behind the illusion and they won't be able to see what is going on, but my main point was that there are no angle issues from a 360 degree stand point. I wanted the flap/lid to stand up like it does, because it adds a really nice back drop, contrasting with the different props such as sharpie, card etc, so they show up really nicely against the lid. And the lid also helps show off the glow during the entire presentation. P.

Got to see the video and must say I personally like this a lot. I was looking at a lot of snake basket type effects including the wacky wacoon by wolf. I found most were way to mechanical and stiff in movement. Your product seems to have overcome this and at a lesser price too. Congrats. Just wish I could afford it right now.

I realise that to us magicians, this resembles a Snake Basket. But to lay audiences, it's really like nothing else they will have seen. You could follow Wacky Wackoon with Gremlins in a Box, and no one need notice the similarity.
I'm already thinking of having the Gremlins draw me a treasure map. Or what about using "Intercessor", and the gremlins can reveal a previously destroyed torn card. The spectator can write his name on the corner he keeps, and the Gremlins then write their name on the other part of the card. This will REALLY fool people, so you'll not only have a brilliantly funny effect, you'll slay people with it too! Yes, this is my favourite comedy prop of 2007, and that's based purely on seeing the video! |

Peter,
A question about the power supply of the unit: Battery operated or is the unit charged? Either way, how long does it last on a full power supply? Thanks!

Potty,
Using the Intercessor is a great idea! I imagine I will watch and wait to get one for this summer. Peter, I almost hate saying this . . . Nationally (here in the US)the libraries have themes . . . This next year it is "bugs". You may want to design a label and a routine for that - it could give a lot of magicians an excuse to their wives to spend $500. |

Hey Captian, Ive never heard of that. I don't think our libraries in Canada do that, that I am aware of anyway. Sounds neat. Do ALL the libraries in the USA do that?
Logan, It is battery operated, but its hard to give you an exact estimate of actual time as it really depends on if the prop is just turned on sitting idle or if it is in full action, as it will require more juice as it animates, But you will get many hours out of a single battery whether it is in full action or sitting Idle from our experience. The last time I changed my battery, which was only my first time since building my own unit after the first prototype, I started keeping track, I rehearsed for 2 hours with it, left it on for 3 hours in idle position by accident, came back rehearsed another 3 hours with it. did about 1 hour of full performance time with it over about 6 or 7 showings, and since have done about another 2-3 hours of rehearsal, and it was still going strong. that's using a brand name battery though like Duracell or Energizer. Power time may vary with other cheaper brands. Our older technology we used in other animation props would suck the battery power very quickly, but this new board is way way more effecient now. However as a professional dealing with electronics I would always reccomend keeping a fresh battery in for the day of your show(s). The Unit won't ever JUST STOP though if the battery got to low, it would finish the routine, you would see a gradual loss of power over time, so then you would know that it was time to change your battery. This is especially good so that you know your unit will never not finish the job during a live show if you had an old battery in there, provinding it worked when you put it in just before the show(if that makes any sense). P. Posted: Dec 23, 2007 1:04am Btw I must mention that the times quoted above were with the unit "ON" the entire time per time duration that I mentioned. Also Doug your idea with use of a treasure map and Intercessor is nothing short of grasping the concept with complete brilliancy. I am going to be so excited to see the ideas that will be brought to my attention(and shared) that can help my own routine as well as others. I can only create the idea, its all of you who will make it seem like real magic! I also want to add that I have had long conversations with other magicians including one with our own Steve Brooks last night in particular in regards to the accessory pack, and Steve amoung others, have been adding so much to the ideas of our accessory pack that this will truly be something we will make available, and something that will allow us to take the prop into even more versitality than ever before. Happy Holidays, and know we are building your gremlins right now! Best, Peter.

Peter,
I believe most libraries do in the US. Enough that magicians marketing to them are all having "Bug" shows. I do an occasional library, but my bread and butter is schools and birthdays. It could be a huge sales tool for you. |

Thanks, Peter....I've been thinking further about the Intercessor/Gremlins in a Box, and I think these two effects will complement each other PERFECTLY! In fact, I can't think of a more powerful way to present the Intercessor. It "proves" that the signed card is the same card that a moment before was unsigned. There is also the possibility here to include a mentalism slant. SO...there will be a QUADRUPLE WHAMMY of magic! The spirit writing, torn and restored card, prediction, and the animation! Along with comedy and endless possibilities to customise the routine. What other effect in all of magic ever offered all of that?
I already realise this will be one of my most powerful effects, easily contending with Bill in Lemon and other classics. I always find this "waiting period" the most productive for fresh ideas.....anyone else have any thoughts to share? |

Hey that's real deep, not sure that it is constructive, but deep. I'm a blue collar oil field worker tdowell, so I guess you'll have to explain your meaning. If you're a coin man I figure this product wont be appealing to you, but then, why join in on this post. I'm sorry, I just don't understand your sarcasm.

From your post, tdowell, I presume you don't perform comedy magic? Actually, one of the things I like about this presentation is that it takes the magic away from the magician, and allows the Gremlins to do the magic. I always prefer my magic not to come across as "look how clever I am", though I'm not averse to a few fancy flourishes.
Others, who do like their magic to impress others with their skill and cleverness, will no doubt find Gremlins in a Box less than desirable. |

Peter,
I sent you a pm. Michael Posted: Dec 27, 2007 10:44am After a lot of thought and after dicussing my own routining ideas with Peter, I have changed my mind about this item and I will be ordering it. It does have a lot of comedy and magic potential and is versatile enough for anyone to come up with his/her own unique routines. Michael

Thanks Michael, Your routine sounds hilarious, and would be a lot fun!
Maps-unfortunately the box is already crammed with electronics, and the box would not have enough room for a standard card fountain. However, with that in mind, nothing would stop you from porting the electronics into a bigger box and adding a fountain. But I didn't add one because I would have to sacrifice other animations for a card fountain, and I wanted other animations instead so it would stand out from other snake basket type of effects, and I wanted to keep it as least expensive as possible, and as small as possible. Adding a remote controlled card fountain would have added a great deal to the price, and I would have had to either get rid of some of the other animations or make it bigger, but I really wanted the small size so that this could be easily carried around. I have a long dressy winter coat and this actually fits in the inside bottom pocket, that's how small it is. The electronics are powerful enough however that it can animate a lot more weight if you added stuff to it or ported to a bigger box. But that would have to be something you would have to experiment with. You might also want to explore the idea of adding a spring loaded manual card launcher, but you would have to be holding the box and operated it with a lever or something, but I didn't want anything sticking from outside the box and I also wanted it fully remote controlled so the performer never has to be holding the prop as it animates. P.
