Was curious if anyone knows of any good sources that provide instruction on making your own Mental Epic board/effect? Thanks in advance.

"Mind Warp" by Richard Mark, if you can find a copy, explains how to construct a "no force" board.

I will soon be releasing a small book of several mentalism effects entitled
"The Safwan Papers." In it I have included a section of effects using the "technology" of my BusinessCOIN Prediction effect. One of these is a mental epic type board that uses one 3"x5" index card that you can keep folded up in your wallet ready for performance. Bryn

Let me add my recommendation for Steno ESP, too. It packs flat and plays big. I have one of the old hand-held boards (when I bought my first one 20+ years ago it was called the Occult Board), and I considered purchasing the one for stage. However, the ones I have handled were too noisy for my liking. Then I discovered Steno ESP and usually perform it in every mentalism show I do.

Steno ESP can also be found in Osterlind's wonderful book "The Very Modern Mindreader.
Another suggestion is Mick Ayre's spectacular "Easy Epic" from Hoodwinkings. This is a full 25 minute act worth the meager price for this effect alone. Don |

However, the new spin he puts on it in his new new DVD series is worth the price of it alone. I had used it as originialy written up for years...using a small pocket notebook....and seeing his new addition made ALL the additional difference! (and thanks for all the PMs regarding my book..I will certainly post when it is available!) Bryn

Fogelepic, described in the new Fogel book, uses a non-mechanical blackboard. It needs to be fairly large and have 6 circles painted on it. Supreme used to sell it. Barry |

Is Osterlind's StenoESP dependant on the use of a NW? I am not a fan of the NW.

No good reason Michiel. To be honest, it's just a lack of use, leading to lack of comfort with the device. I know the NW is to mentalism as the TT is to magicians. While I can appreciate a good mentalism effect, mentalism is not my niche.

Aaah ok. No problem. Steno ESP is without a NW so you can rest assure for that:)

However, Mick Ayres wrote on another forum that Easy Epic was based on his Epic Proportions, which appeared in his One-Man Parade in the July 2002 edition of The Linking Ring. I found it on page 104 and am considering it. Bobby
