Hey everyone,
New to this section of the Café and performing coin magic in general. I'm only interested in tricks that use common, ungaffed coins I could get anywhere. I just picked up Bobo's book and Coin Magic by David Roth. What are some effects out of these books that I could perform well with just pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters? be well, JW |

Jay,
It's about time you picked up a coin.....lol In Expert Coin Magic, I'd suggest you trying out: Winged Silver pg. 57 The Original Hanging Coins pg. 82 The Legendary Four Coin Trick pg. 137 The first is a coins across. The second is a vanish and reproduction sequence, and the third I think you can have some fun with. You'll have fun with the patter since it doesn't begin with, " The problem with money is..." lol

You could do a matrix routine with quarters. I've seen it done with a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter as well.
There is a discussion somewhere about Paul Harris' Twilight, very mysterious.

While you're looking up Eric's suggestions, also try out The Original Chinese Coin Assembly (I think that's what it's called in that book... might be under "Chink-a-Chink"), The Lapel Coin, and Deep Palm Tenkai Pennies. Oh, and the Shuttle Pass and Retention Vanish. And get your classic palm going at Dan Watkins' site--you'll need it.

I always liked to use Sankey's Waterwheel Production of two coins and than go into Tenkai Pennies, followed by a complete vanish of the two coins. Can be down with quarters so its impromptu. A simple coin flurry is a valuable tool as well. You have two of the classic coin magic books, learn the foundation and Eric and Travi's recommendations and you should be able to create your own routines in time.

There's quite a few in Bobo's 'Modern Coin Magic' (MCM).
Also, keep in mind that half $s, while more visible, are not a requirement. Especially for impromptu situations. "Just Pretend" - J.B. Bobos 'Modern Coin Magic' (MCM). "Gadabout Coins" - J.B. Bobos(MCM). Coins Across - There are several variations. MCM. Coins through Table - There are several variations. MCM. "Hanging Coins" - David Roth's 'Expert Coin Magic' book and others. "Coin to Key". Bobo's. "Much from Little" - Bobo's. "Down the Sleeve" - David Roth's 'Expert Coin Magic' book. "Coin to Pen Cap" - Dave Williamson. Pen w/ cap and coin. "Coins to Glass" - Coins and drinking glass. "Half dollars in the Mist" - John Carney's 'Carneycopia'. "Soft Glass" – Carney. Glass, napkin, coins. "26 Cents Worth of Change" - Michael Close's 'Workers'. "3/4" - Greg Wilson's 'On the Spot'. Coins across. "A Questionable Trick" - Greg Wilson's 'On the Spot'. C/S transposition. "6-4-5" - Eddie Fechter from the book "Fechter". Schnieder's "Matrix" – 4 coins, four cards. There's lots! |

Dean Dill has an effect called "No Extras" which was designed to be done with any four coins (they don't even have to be the same).
