I am having an incredibly difficult time finding a small framed slate board. Could someone please provide a link to where I could purchase one? If I can't find any I suppose I could make my own. Thanks very much.

There are magic slate boards such as this one:
http://www.vikingmagic.com/?nd=full&key=944 and then there are the much cheaper ones: http://rosiehippo.com/productdetail.asp?groupnumber=S233 http://www.toyday.co.uk/shop/creative-to......709.html I haven't shopped from either of the above mentioned. Personally I'd get some plywood, some pieces for the frame and some black paint (non-gloss). It's very easy. |

I purchased one a number of years ago at a Hobby Lobby store. I would imagine an arts and crafts store might carry them. After I bought the slate, I purchased a small, magnetic dry erase board, which I use all of the time.

Try your local big craft store, the one with the scrapbooking and embroidery stuff. I bought a dozen or so slates of various sizes at Michael's, which is a chain. The sizes ranged from 4x6 (or thereabouts) up to 10x14 (or thereabouts), for a few bucks each.

I made mine from "hardboard", and put a small frame around the outside. You can buy blackboard (or ping-pong table) paint. Super easy (if you can make the outside frame).

I am fond of glueing chalk board vinyl to metal. Then, by using a combination of magnetic and Non-magnetic metal, I can create locking and non-locking flaps.
