I'm looking for a jumbo card routine as a middle to my new act.
but I don't want b'wave,3 card monte or sidewalk shuffle or any other card trick that relies heavly on patter. I was hoping for some thing astetic with lots of eye candy and can be done with hand made jumbo cards. maybe an illussion [but not card warp or card distruction] or maybe a manipulation with a final production of something interesting. you fellahs got any ideas I'm frustrated. |

Himber´s `Boomerang Card´ works real nice with jumbos,...and it´s cream for the eyes. First to the right, then to the left,...then drop it `flat´. It falls between your legs and comes right back up again. (This is an old juggling move, called `a kidney ball´) To make it work right, the card has to be a little heavier. I use a double card. (This is a real benefit, when working outside. You can throw that baby in the air,...and she just spins and flys!)
...have fun. |

Hey Jimmy,
Rising Cards comes to mind. There are some card / ribbon penetrations around that look nice Homing Card, (Mike Caveney has a version using jumbo cards in his book "Magicomedy") If you can do jumbo card manipulations, you can finish with a jumbo card castle. Joe H |

How about a jumbo Phil routine. This is going to require some patter, but you are good at that...

Jimmy, get yourself a couple decks of jumbo playing cards and play around with 'em if you haven't already, best advice I can give you.
Other than that you could look into Harry Andersons "Jumbo Marked". ...still brainstorming.... Johnny

Jimmy,
Eugene Burger put out an excellent handling of Card Warp using giant playing cards. I have done this a few times at malls. It is very visual and requires absolutely no patter if you prefer. David Tower

I do Zen's cards across from "My Best" with jumbo cards. Minimal patter but lots of impact.

Jimmy, nice thoughts and all when it comes to some jumbo card werk...
However I feel as though you will be led down a different path....this jumbo card thing is just a phase and you will get past it without difficulties. There is something else on the horizon for you man, some jumbo cards might be a part of it, but they are only the begininngings. Lay low upon one knee and pledge yourself to the utter abandonedess of my words... BUY A STRAITJACKET!!!! ---- Jimmy, just joking about the straitjacket man! There's already too many of us performing it.

McCombical Prediction in jumbo cards is great, but, unless you buy several different ones, you can't repeat, because you'll have the same outcome. Jumbo rising cards is very cool. Don't set them on your table, set them on the ground, and use a brick to lean the pack against.

Rising cards is my favorite card trick, trouble is the gimmicks I've seen are cumbersom unless it's the wieght pully but then it gets worn out and it's difficult to make.
I am really interested in the kidney ball thing is there any footage of it or a more detailed explaination? thanks for all the input ....more please. |

Jimmy, how about doing a linking card effect using the jumbos? Though, having seen you work, jumbo cards just wouldn't seem right with you.

Charie,
yeh your right I wanna do somthin more jester manip style or somthin. more of a style then "magic" thing with a magic trick at the end. and somthin that can be done silent. in my head I wanna do somthin with 3 jumbos....definately not monte. maybe like the mime bit with the floating balloon only with one of the cards and then when placed with the other 2 it actually rises from the middle of them...i dunno. somthing old old old theater style. |

Think about doing a 20fly type routine with big cards instead of coins. Pocket cards and/or r and s?
Posted: Feb 26, 2008 1:28am You could do a nice rising card with a small packet of cards and a T****D permanently attached. Of a hathaway with 2 folks holding the ribbons and swinging the deck, packs small and plays big.

Jimmy,
I was thinking about this and how about doing a Jumbo Card Fountain out of your bag to a) having a selected card on the forehead b) having a selected card in between the teeth. Or manipulating a jumbo card and turning it into a card silk. Charlie |
