The best 'value for money' tricks I have bought have to be the thumb tip and invisible thread. OK, so they're not actually tricks in themselves, but each gimmick lets you perform hundreds of knock-out effects for less than £5.

I like the simple yet totally unexplainable. Like Invisible Deck or making things vanish with a thumb-tip.
Also a book like Mark Wilson's Cyclopedia of Magic which has card, rope, sponge, cup and ball, silk and handkerchief, and money effects(and many others) which is only $9.95 is probably one of the best buys I've made. Actually it was a gift so that makes it even better!

Why is it no one ever mentions Blink? I love Blink! I think, used properly, it is a powerful effect!
Also, I really enjoy the 3d multiplying bunnies; they get a good reaction.
It's like that? I guess it's like that! OH YEAH!!! YEAH!! - wait, what are we talking about?

The best trick I have purchased lately is "Viper ll" by Terry Lunceford. I have owned several snakebaskets (including Collectors Workshop) and none have come close to the reaction I get with Viper.

By far, the Mother of All Booktests! It literally floors laymen!! I get bookings just by doing this trick. Expensive, but the BEST trick I have ever purchased!

My favorite is Kevin James' Bowl-A-Rama. The best opener for a stage show ever.

The best trick I purchased recently was Black Envelope by Bob Kohler.
The method is simple but versatile, and the contents of DVD are very good. yken |

I am over gimmicks now, so I would have to say the Bill Malone DVD set. "Sam the Bellhop" is my most requested effect! I also use it for some kids because they love the story and I have my own version. (One version is with adult jokes and an adult story, the other is with kid jokes and a story the kids understand.)
Also, I do it for kids that usually are over the age of about 10, because they understand that they are "mixing" the cards up by cutting them, etc. They also find the flourishes and shuffles very cool . All close-up magicians should learn this routine because it is GOLD. Evan |
